THE ELEVATOR HUMMED TO life as it moved past each floor, slowing to a stop, then dinged. The doors opened for Casey and Jasper to step inside. Keenan's hand pressed firmly on the slat where the doors disappeared to keep it from closing.
⠀⠀⠀"I've been to visit the President once, when we did a tour in the fifth grade," Keenan explained to the pair. "But I remember that his office is at the very end of the hall. You should see President Wallace's head of security, Mr. Andre, outside of the door. He'll let you in."
⠀⠀⠀"Thanks, Keenan," Casey said with a smile, leaning back against the elevator wall.
⠀⠀⠀"Of course!" she said cheerily, removing her hand. The doors closed when Keenan remembered something, her eyes widening, as she exclaimed, "Oh, hey, don't forget tonight's movie night. We're watching—!"
⠀⠀⠀Her voice muffled from the doors closing in her face and Jasper chuckled as he pressed the button to the President's floor. Casey folded her arms over her chest, tapping her fingers against her arm while Jasper rocked on his heels, his hands shoved into his jacket pockets.
