CASEY DUG HER HANDS into the rough, freshly tilled earth. Her fingers wrapped around the roots of a stubborn weed and yanked it from the ground. Her knees ached, and the sun blazed hot against her tender neck. The valley was quiet since Diyoza had banned the prisoner's loud, screeching music from playing in the yard. Now, she could hear the wind through the trees, the rustle of leaves, and the guards patrolling the perimeter.
⠀⠀⠀Casey had been geotagged to the garden for the day. Raven enabled her collar back to tag her location, but it remained unlocked. Casey wished they could just leave this miserable place, but Raven couldn't work on her own collar. So, for now, without Monty or Emori to help, they were stuck waiting for their rescue team.
⠀⠀⠀Despite doing something that was typically a comfort to Casey, it did little to distract her racing mind. She couldn't stop herself from thinking about her family with Octavia and the people from the bunker. Luna had told them everything she had witnessed while in the ruins of Polis. Octavia had turned from a fearsome warrior to a power-hungry monster that saw even Luna as a threat to her reign. She even informed them about Clarke's daughter, Madi, who also had Nightblood. Clarke feared for her, too.
