And then I get sick and throw up. And there's another memory that gets stuck inside the walls of my skull, waiting for its turn to talk.

JOHN MURPHY WAS AND had always been an idiot. He got arrested on the Ark, banished from the dropship camp, and returned, only to let his rage take over. However, the last time was a true testament to who he fundamentally was as a person. Casey had been kidnapped and holed up inside Mount Weather. She was the one person who had always been there for him. From the day they met, after getting into a fight, they were thicker than thieves. Now, he had no one and had nothing to offer to save her. Everyone at Camp Jaha stared at him like the roach he was and just... snapped.
⠀⠀⠀Murphy hated Bellamy Blake. He was the one that banished him and destroyed what little he had left in his pathetic life. And yet, Murphy knew he cared for his people, he cared for Casey. A small, indescribable part of him that still respected Bellamy knew he'd do whatever it took to save those kids from the Mountain Men. And when he did, she would have a real family that would welcome her home.
⠀⠀⠀But this place. This wasn't home. Murphy had followed Chancellor Jaha into the desert in search of the City of Life and found himself trapped inside a claustrophobic bunker. There was an orange couch, rations, and a pistol lying on the floor. Opposite of the couch was a screen that took up the entire wall. It played video footage of the end of the world on a loop. At first, it was interred, but now it was background noise in Murphy's slow descent into madness.
