BELLAMY COULD REMEMBER THE morning of their eighth anniversary in space clear as day. Casey worried about going down with their daughter as they stared at that tiny patch of green, but to him it felt like a sign. Now, he realized, it had to have been a bad omen. Not only was he warring with an outsider group none of them even knew existed a decade before, but he was also trying to tiptoe around his sister before she threw him into the fighting pits herself.
⠀⠀⠀He knew it wasn't possible that the girl he said goodbye to over the radio would sound and act the same when they reunited. He knew he had changed, too. He used his head rather than his heart. He wasn't so jaded and angry at the world, and he had started a family with Casey. But he didn't feel like an entirely new person. Just... someone who had evolved from the child he once was.
⠀⠀⠀Clarke had tracked Miller through the ruins. She had realized he was going to scout the shallow valley and warned him of the dangers of his journey. Miller sighed and then directed them to Octavia, Indra, and her other advisors as they discussed the path moving forward.
