Zarah.
I let out a chuckle as Hanan's message popped up on my screen. She is updating me about Sufyan regaining consciousness, but expressing concern that he hasn't tried to call her once. At the same time, she mentioned that Asma was back, which I find hard to believe. I immediately dialed her number, and after a few rings, she picked up."How far?" she asked, her voice coming through the phone.
"Not much, Hanan. How are you doing, and how's Mami?" I asked.
"Mami has been good, Alhamdulillah, so I am," she replied.
I asked, "When did she actually come back, and did Abdul meet her?"
Hanan cautioned, "Cool down, babe. I don't know whether he met her or not, but I'm sure she came back a few months ago."
I wondered aloud, "Do you think it's appropriate for me to question him about this? Maybe try to be smart with him to know whether he met her or not. What do you think?"
"Mmm, I don't think this is a good idea, Zarah.
Just before I hang up the call, Abdul's call came in on my phone. I let it ring until he called for the second time, then I picked up, remaining silent.
"Babe," are you there?"
Who did you meet today?"I asked, my eyes shut tight, hoping for a reassuring answer, "
There is a silence for a while before he cleared his throat. "How are you doing?" he asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'm asking you a question, Abdul, and you have to give me a good, straight answer." I insisted, my anxiety growing.
God, babe, who else would I meet? He replied, "I met Asma today. "Tell me, are you spying on me?" he asked.
"Why would I?" I responded, trying to sound nonchalant despite my growing unease.
I can hear the sound of his laughter, the smart ass. Anyway, how are you doing? I miss you," If I weren't mad at him right now, I'd say I miss him more than words can express. But instead, I feel the urge to punch him through the phone, so I cut the call with a hiss.
He calls me twice, and I reject both times. Finally, I switch off the phone. He thinks he's smarter, so he calls through Ammi's phone. Ugh, what should I call him? Ammi forces me to pick up the call.
"Zarah, are we fighting?!"
Why don't you ask Asma'u, or sorry, I mean your girlfriend?"I snap,
He sounds incredulous, "Zarah, you think I'll cheat on you?!" He cuts the call, and I retort, "Suit yourself. Let's see who will call first."
I continued chatting with Hanan and learned that Ummi want to return to Abba's house, which surprised me. Feeling bored, I decided to visit Ama's house and informed Ammi about my plans. I quickly got dressed in a peach camisole and black abaya, wrapping my veil around me. I couldn't help but notice that I've gained weight recently, which I didn't like at all. Luckily, Ya Hafiz is at home and dropped me off at Ama's house directly.
As soon as I entered the house, I was surprised to see Faruoq sitting beside Ama, engrossed in his phone. I dated this guy before.
OMG, who am I seeing here?" Ama screamed, running towards me and pulling me into a tight hug. "God, beb, when did you come? You should have contacted me to come over, ya Allah, Zarah, see how you've changed," she exclaimed.
I asked her to let me greet the others first, and I shoved her aside while I exchanged greetings with Faruoq. He answered me with a huge smile on his face and asked about Abdul.
