Zarah...
You know," I began softly, my head resting against his chest, "everything that has happened was already written in the book of destiny before we were even created. As Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, 'Do not reciprocate evil with evil, but rather deal with others with forgiveness and kindness.' So, Abdul, forgive others even if they are not sorry.

Don't let the shadows of the past darken the doorstep of your future."

He sighed, staring at the ceiling in silence.

I tilted my face to him. "Have faith in Allah. Even if those who wronged you return with bad intentions, they can't harm you unless Allah wills it. Allah is watching. Don't carry hatred...it's poison, wallahi."

He  shifted, his jaw tightening. "You make it sound so easy."

"Because it is," I whispered, poking his arm. "It's you that's stubborn. Ummi's words may sound harsh, but she wants you to learn, not hold grudges. She wants you to stand tall, not broken."

I held his hand firmly. "When Abba finally realized his mistakes, he came begging for your forgiveness, didn't he? He pleaded, 'Abdul, please, for the sake of Allah, let it go and start a new life.' You can't carry this fire forever. Let them see that their cruelty didn't break you."

He stayed quiet, so I bit his hand.

"Ouch, babe!" he yelped, pulling his hand back. "That hurts!"

"Good! Are you even listening to me?" I demanded.
"Yes," he said quickly.

I narrowed my eyes. "Then tell me...what did I say?"

He grinned and leaned close, brushing his lips against my cheek. "I heard everything. Inyeee, you...

I cut him off immediately, smacking his chest. "Don't you dare insult me, Abdul. What do you mean by 'inyeee, you—'?!"

He laughed. "Wallahi, I didn't mean anything bad!"

"Liar! You wanted to say I don't have sense, right?"

"I didn't say that!" he chuckled harder, trying to defend himself.

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes dramatically, then softened. "You know what I want from you?"

He tilted his head. "What?"

"A promise. I want you to attend the wedding and act like nothing happened. No fighting, no attitude, no rage. Please, Abdul. Do it for me."

He exhaled deeply, studying my face. "Will it make you happy?"

"Yes," I smiled, squeezing his hand.

"Then... okay," he nodded slowly. "I promise you, I'll do it. Just to make you happy."

My heart swelled, but before I could say anything, he added quietly, "And... you still haven't told me properly about your marriage, how it was canceled, and that day you met her..

"Let's not talk about that right now."

The silence between us stretched until his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, then at me.

"Babe... let me answer this, please."

I moved my head from his lap, watching as he walked away. His voice dropped low, almost careful, as he spoke into the phone. My chest tightened. Is he hiding something from me?

He came back minutes later with a smile plastered on his face. "Babe, come. Let's go somewhere."

I forced a smile, though my mind raced. "Where exactly?"

"You'll see." He winked, pulling me up by the hand.

I leaned on his arm as we walked to the car. "Hmm, I don't trust you. Where are you kidnapping me to again?"

"You'll thank me later," he said smugly, kissing the back of my hand.

A short drive later, we pulled up to a grand, luxurious house. My eyes widened instantly.

"SubhanAllah... Abdul, whose palace is this?"

He parked, deliberately avoiding eye contact.

My suspicion burned hotter. "Abdul," I said firmly, "what are we doing here?"

Before he could answer, the gate opened and a guard greeted him respectfully. He muttered into his phone again, "I'm outside."

I folded my arms, glaring. "Abdul, don't test me. What is going on?!"

He turned to me with that mischievous smile I hated and loved at the same time. "Relax, babe. You're about to meet your rival."

My jaw dropped. "My what?!"

He winked, clearly enjoying the chaos he had just unleashed.

My rival?!" I repeated, my voice going a pitch higher. "Abdul, wallahi if you're joking with me right now, I will walk straight out of this car."

He leaned on the steering wheel, laughing so hard his shoulders shook. "Babe, calm down, ha..ba. Your face alone is worth recording right now."

I smacked his arm. "This is not funny! You're seriously bringing me to some house to meet...what....your ex?"

"Relax, relax," he said, raising his hands like he was surrendering. "No exes involved. I told you before, I only had two girls in my life....you and Asma'u. Stop forming jealous babe."

"I'm not jealous!" I snapped, though my chest tightened.

"Eh-hehn,"so why is your nose flaring like a dragon ready to breathe fire?"

"Abdul!" I hissed, hitting him again.

"Okay, okay, fine. You'll see for yourself...
