I felt my solidarity turn binary and I rolled my eyes immediately. I can't seem to catch a break from this nigga. It was a brand new day and yet....he's still in my face.

"Can I get one moment where you leave me alone?"

"Hayden, I'm just tryna be a friend." Xavier spoke quietly.

"I did not ask for your friendship."

He reached over and closed my sketchbook and I sat back, scoffing to myself.

"We're gonna start from the beginning, ight?"

I gave him a side eye and crossed my arms.

"My name is Xavier. Most people would think its Ex-avier. But it's Zay-vier."

"You want a cookie?"

He laughed and shook his head.

"You're impossible."

"So why do you keep trying to speak to me."

"You related to Ness. Ness is my peoples. I'm just tryna be nice and you making it hard."

I bit my lip and uncrossed my arms.

"Hayden."

"Nice to meet you Hayden."

"This doesn't make us friends."

"That's fine, I'm just telling you....we will be."

"Keep wishing on that sweetie."

Mr. Reed began to speak, going on about shading concepts and although I had my eyes on him, my mind was tuning it out. I don't need art lessons if I'm being quite honest, I had done most of this in my other schools. Not to mention I've been drawing since I was little. It's all I want to do at any given time of the day.

I felt Xavier staring at me and I waited patiently until Mr. Reed finished his monologue before I gave him any of my attention.

"Can I have the side of my face back?"

"Why you acting like this?"

"Again. I don't know you."

"That ain't got nothing to do with anything. You don't have to know somebody to be kind. The attitude is coming from somewhere."

"My attitude is my business and none of yours."

I grabbed my pencil and he continued to stare at me.

"You don't wanna be here do you?"

I ignored him and he sighed before grabbing his own sketch book.
