Hayden

"You okay?"

Nessa sat next to me at lunch and I gave her a nod.

"I wasn't feeling to well. Mommy wrote me a doctors note. That's why I was home."

"You could've texted me that. Also...if you had a bug." She pulled me close. "Why did you have Xay all up in your house?"

I rolled my eyes. How did she know he was there? Unless he told her something.

"Who told you that?"

"Jason big ass mouth ass. He said he brought clothes to Xay because he was spending the night. And he knew that was your crib because he's picked me up from over there."

"And only you know this?"

"No. Our whole lunch table knows. Xay said y'all weren't up to nothing but I wanna hear it from you."

I shrugged.

"We weren't."

"So why was he there?"

"You were the one who told me to make friends and give him a chance, now if we hang out at my house your giving me 3rd degree. Wassup with that?"

Nessa raised her hands in defense and sighed.

"Well excuse me. I just don't get why he was sleeping there. Y'all ain't that close."

I shrugged not answering her question. It wasn't her business. Not me getting off of the powder. Not me and Xay. None of it concerned her.

The table soon filled and I looked up as Xay sat down across from me. I gave him a look and he returned the same before looking over at Carter.

"Welcome back rasta."

I gave him the side eye and grabbed my fork to get a meatball.

"I heard you and Xay getting cozy?"

"Is that your business?" I spoke with Xay coincidentally saying the same thing.

"Well damn." Carter spoke before picking up his sandwich.

I shifted in my seat went back to eating my food.

"Anyway." Jason spoke. "Hayden, you gonna come to the game on Friday?"

I shrugged.

"I don't know, maybe."

"You should, it's fun." Xavier spoke to me.

I nodded not giving any inclination that I was excited he wanted me there. We had already talked about this on our own time.

"Yea." Nessa said. "Plus you missed gymnastics try outs. But there's always cheer."

"I'm not gon be no damn cheer leader. I have a gymnastic try-out today after school with the couch. She knew I was out sick."

I glanced at Xavier who's faced read annoyance. Then I heard a high voice behind me.

"Zayvee."

I turned and looked up at the girl and rose my brow. She was Caucasian, brown/blonde hair and short as can be.

"Again. Can I help you Gianna?"

Oh this was her. Explains the IG handle, "vivalagia" was corny as hell. And to think I was almost worried about....that.
