I wanted Xavier to get off his chest everything he possibly needed to. But that was something that was unfortunately going to have to wait a couple more days.
It was New Years Eve and as promised, Hailey had invite my mom and I over to celebrate with them. So I didn't want to spoil today or Xavier seemingly happy mood by bringing up anything about his secretive emotions. If anything, he deserves to have a smile on his face today.
He always seemed vibrant and full of energy. I would've never guessed he was still fighting his own demons of his past. Whenever he brought up his mom....it seemed like he had dealt with it. I guess he's just that good of an actor. But if you're not genuinely happy....you have to do something about it.
"Babe..." I snapped out of my thoughts and looked to my right. Xavier holding out my drink and calling my name with no reply.
"Sorry, was in a deep thought."
"You alright?"
"I'm fine baby. You?"
He gave me a honest shrug.
"Decent."
He grabbed my hand and led us to the swing bench, my favorite piece of furniture at this house. Well, maybe second time his bed.
We sat and he kept his hand laced in mine, watching the family go about with their talks and cooking.
"I know you got something on your mind and I know it concerns me." He said softly.
This was becoming so normal for us. One could sense that the other was upset, or withholding something. We were ultimately in tune with each other.
"There is. But it can wait until tomorrow. Or whenever you're open to it. Not today, today we'll enjoy this, and each other."
I looked over at him and he nodded his head, along with a very small smirk.
"I appreciate you Hayden. I don't say that as much as I should. You just being around me...makes the problems a lot smaller. I'm not thinking about that stuff when I'm with you. The aura about you....just eases some of the discomfort."
I leaned over and kissed his cheek.
"You don't have to say it. I know. But thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate you....for a lot."
"Hayden! Hayden!"
Focusing my attention on the little girl running towards me and smiled widely as Xavier took my drink from me.
"Havana Banana!"
She climbed into my lap and I helped her up, pulling her into my arms.
