Kiss

"Thank you Mrs. Cullen for the lovely meal." Logan said with smile showing his dimples.

"My pleasure. But please call me Esme."

Logan nodded with a sweet smile,"thank you. Please take care of River. "

"We'll do." Carlisle said.

Logan nodded,"well it was nice meeting you all. I'll be seeing all of you soon." He gave them a single wave before he descended the stairs River following closely.

"You call me every night, every morning. Call me if you're in trouble. Call me if you need anything. Call me when you find them or anything." River  instructed as she followed him,"take of my car." She held out the keys.

Logan took the keys,"thanks." He chuckled,"and relaxed, I got it."

River frowned,"come to think of it. You never told me what was in North Carolina."

"Base." Logan suspiciously avoids the River's eyes.

"Base?" Logan nodded,"what kind of base?"

"Its where they store the stuff they found."

River bit her lip,"About me?"

"Yeah. You, the supernatural and the other side. Spiritual world."

"Where Thalia's from?"

Logan nodded before he leaned on the car,"usually spirit try to communicate with us to help and and they do but they have a limit to what they can actually do. Usually they don't appear as much as Thalia has."

"Thalia was the most powerful witch."

"She's still a dead." He said a little aggressively.

River backed away,"Thalia and I share the same soul. Maybe it's because we're linked."

"Yeah, maybe." Logan his head to the sky,"did she cast a spell on you?"

"Yeah, I think. She made me forget somethings from few months ago. She said she did it to protect me."

Logan frowned.

"What is it?"

"Somthing is not right. Has contacted you since you that night?" He asked

"Not at the moment. She said I needed to heal. She can't stay with her power alone." River said.

"All the times she has spoken to you. What did she say?" He asked.

"Not much. She just kept me alive most of the time. She shows up just when I'm at the verge of dying."

"How many times?"

Rover started counting,"three of four."

"River!"

"I know. Shit has been happening to me for the past year. I swear only attempted suicide once and the rest was just pure bad luck." River said. Hearing the words come out of her word, she realised she's always one step from death and one thing always pulled her away, Thalia.

"Has she ever used your body against your will. Like to talk to someone or anything."

"She did to talk to Clara. I dont remember they're conversation but I know I was talking but not at will." River answered getting my worried everytime Logan asked a question.

"Has she told you her story yet?" Logan asked nervously.

"No, she always says I'm not ready. Whatever that means." River rolled her eyes before looking at the nervous Logan, "do you know something about this?"

"No, why would I?" Logan quickly brushed it off.

"Cause of what Clara said. She told me about you letting me in the family secret." River walked closer to Logan.

Logan hissed as he cursed under his breath.

"Tell me the truth." River demanded,"are you somehow related to Thalia?"

Logan stared at the furious River and inched closer to her,"listen to me, if Thalia doesn't want you to know yet, I can't tell you."

"So you know something I don't."

"Im telling you that I will tell anything and everything you need to know. Please understand River. It's not my place. Not my secret to tell. You should hear it from Thalia, she knows more than I do." Logan said as he cupped her cheeks and caressed them,"I would never lie to you, you know that. Trust me, okay?"

River looked down with tears in her eyes and hesitantly nodded.

Logan stepped away,"Once I'm back, I'll tell what I found."

River sighed,"promise you will take care of yourself."

Logan smiled,"I'm touched that you care so much about me." He lightens up the damp the mood.

River rolled her eyes,"whatever."

Logan chuckled before catching River's eyes with his own,"I'm serious. It's been a while and grateful for having you in my life. You're the greatest thing that has happened in my life in very long time."

River blushed as she shyly smiled,"I'm the one who should be thankful to you. You were there is my darkest times, held me up, helped me, protected me and so much more..."

River brutally stopped as Logan suddenly cupped her cheeks and neck. Without hesitation he leaned in to plant a soft, lingering kiss on River's cherry lips. River still taken back at the suddenness of the kiss but after a while she welcomed it and returned it.

Logan was breathing heavily as he pulled away,"that was better than I imagined." He smirked as he watched River slowly open her eyes,"now that I'm wide awake."

River smiled shyly as she turned red at the memory.

"I'll see you soon." Logan brushed her hair and tucked it behind her ear. He leaned in and kissed her forehead and lingered for a while,"maybe we can talk about that kiss we I come back." He said.

River lost of words only nodded.

Logan smiled before he got in the car and drove away.

River stood there glued to the ground, still stun by the kiss as she watched him drive away in her car. Truthfully she was trying figure out how she felt about the kiss.

Did she enjoy it? Yes. Did it felt go? Hell yeah. Did she have feelings for him? Certainly.

Was she ready for another relationship? To put her already fragile heart out there? To love another? The answer was no, she was not ready.

She still held slightly buried feelings for Edward and wasn't fair on Logan. With everything happening in her life, she needed someone by her side and Logan was there. As thought about this she asked herself when will she ever be ready? Can her heart truly let go of Edward and love Logan.

She felt her heart getting heavy. Her mind, heart and soul battling in the war field of her sanity.

Who has been waiting for that kiss?
