"But you could in future." Logan with dark, hateful eyes from last night walked up to her,"I'm sorry River but it has to be this way. Many will use your power for no evil. That's why I can't allow you to live."

River cried,"No Logan."

As Logan got closer to her. River swang her arm and blew him away into the lake near them.

"Wait!" Logan called out, before River could run out the door as he resurfaced in the water,"I'm sorry, I was just testing you." Logan gasping for air,"I just wanted to know how much you knew in the ways of combat."

"Wasn't there another way for that. Like asking me to do combat with you."

"No." Logan swimming to shore and pushing himself out. His white shirt clung to his well built, lean body,"cause now I know what to do with you." He said with smile, water dripping from his wet dirty blonde hair that seemed brown now.

River frowned and looked at him suspiciously,"what? Are you going to teach me now?"

"Yes, anything to have you close to me." Logan said,"so I can protect you." He whispered to himself.

River smiled before nodded.

River breathe heavily as she ran from Logan. She dodged and at the same time tried to fight off Logan. She learnt a lot from Jasper but She could never beat him special when he had the speed and strength advantage.

With Logan she knew she was fighting a losing battle. He didn't have much speed or strength but he had technique. He seemed to out smart her. She pushed him with her shield and ran.

"Hey, hey. What did I say about using your powers?" Logan said angrily running after her,"River." He warned.

River jumped on one of the trees and waited patiently for Logan to pass under her,"I can't use my abilities now?" River shouted as she hide above the trees looking at Logan below

"I'm not saying you can't. In real battle you can't hold back because they won't hold back. But I told you have two options. Fight with or without your powers. Depending on a situation. I'm a hunter, you don't want me knowing you have special powers because I'll decide to be quick and kill you on the spot. Same for an inexperienced vampire. A vampire with special ability like to play with their food, so you have act fast use your full power in one strike and end them. A werewolf act on instinct, animal instincts so you need to be careful, cautious about your every movement, very step, very action you take." He explained between his breaths as he ran around looking for River.

When Logan was beneath her. She jumped from the tree and landed on him. Logan saw and tried to her catch her and they rolled down the hill still in each others arms.

When they arrived at the bottom, Logan grabbed River's wrist and pinned her down as the straddled her,"in real battle you can't hold back if you want to survive. You wait at the very second to use your powers as the last resort. Enemies will use that to they advantage. You need to add a little power into every attack you throw."

"Okay, I get it. Can you get off me now?" River struggled under his hold.

Logan smirked,"did you know why I won?..again... Cause you were getting predictable." Logan said with a smirk as he pinned the struggling River down.

"You did say use my surroundings to my advantage."

"Yes, true but I didn't say be predictable." Logan said.

"Okay I got you be smart and unpredictable. You won. Can we go now." River whined as she laid underneath him.

"I can't. Not yet. Not until I get my price." Logan buried his face between the shoulder and her head and kissed the nape of her neck.

River moaned before she flipped him and pinned him. She hovered above him and leaned until they could feel ones breath on the other,"you got distracted. I win." River whispered in his ear before she got up.

"Don't tease me." Logan said as he also got up.

"This is not what I agreed on when I said I'll stay if you train me." River warned.

"Come on River, live a little. It was just harmless fun." Logan said playfully.

"You're fun might be so harmless."

"Why? Cause you're starting to fancy me." He said in his British accent,"I know how my British accent makes you feel."

"Shut up and it's not that."

"Than what's it?"

River stared at Logan as he impatiently waited for her respond,"Nevermind. Let's go again." River said.

End flashback

The present day from the chapter 'Stay For The Night'

River stared at the sleeping Logan as she stood above him. She leaned in to kiss his lips gently so not to wake him up. She lingered a while before she pulled back as quickly as she placed the kiss,"thank you for everything." She whispered before she slowly got of the bed.

"Mom? Is that you." Logan said in his sleep.

River smiled,"no, it's me."

"Oh where are you going?" Logan asked in his sleep.

"To the bathroom." River lied.

"Oh, okay." He said turning to his side.

River continued to walk to the door.

"Wait."

River stood by the door worried. She wanted to leave quietly in the middle of the night. It was easier this way, no goodbyes.

"Did you just kiss me?"

"Ah..." River hesitated as she felt her heart beating faster,"yes. You were right, I am starting to fancy you." She made a poor attempt at a British accent before she gave out a small light chuckled.

"Mmm. Is that right. Maybe we should do it again when I'm wide awake." Logan smiled his eyes still closed.

"Yeah..maybe." River said walking up to him and brushed his hair back. Why did he have to wake up and say those words to her? Now, it was harder to leave.

She wanted to stay. She wanted to know more about him. Before it could get harder for her to leave, she grabbed her bag and walked to the door. She carefully opened it not to make noise. She took one last glance inside before she closed the door and left.

She threw her bag in the trunk before she looked at the house she has been staying at for a month. She sighed before she got in and drove away.

Finally River finds happiness but she has to leave to protect it.
