When the evening came, Logan walked River home in a long quiet stroll under a night sky.

"They consider themselves vegetarian because they live off animals rather than humans." River answered Logan's question.

"You see, They're already on my good list of hunting."

"You have a list."

"Of course I don't go around hunting every supernatural creature in sight."

"Do you have any siblings?"

"No. My mom never remarried after my father. I guess you can say my father was the love of her life." Logan said a small, low-key chuckled.

River saw the pain in his eyes,"how did he die?" She had this strong desire to want to take his pain away.

"My mother killed him."

"What?" River asked as if the question sucked the air out of her,"why? I thought she loved him."

"She did. My aunt says he became monster. He couldn't control his thirst. And he almost killed my pregnant mother. So she had to choose the love of his life or me."

"And she choose you." River stated the obvious.

"I think she regretted that decision." Logan looked down.

River stared at him before she looked up into the sky,"I don't think that's true. I think she loved you and she wanted you to have a chance at life plus I don't think the love of her life died completely. She had a part of him in you. And when she died she joined him in the afterlife." She said before looking back at him and noticed he had stopped. He looked down and his eyes become dark. She frowned think she had said something wrong,"Logan, are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" She asked slightly bending her head to see his face.

"No, you said everything I needed to hear. Thank you." Logan said with a small sad smile.

River blushed with a wide smile on her face before she stood straight and started walking.

"What about you and your siblings?" He asked.

"Well not much is there to tell. All turned because they were near death. Carlisle, my adopted dad made it a rule, not to change someone unless they were near death and he had to ask permission first. My brothers and sisters were everything I could ever ask for. They spoilt me rotten."

"I hope not to the core." Logan chuckled.

River laughed,"they showered me with love and attention. So when they stopped I noticed right away. I was hurt."

"What coursed them to stop?"

"When Edward started dating my sister, the family seemed to be divided. They wanted both me and Edward to be happy. The worst part is that they knew and pretended everything was okay. I had to find out the worst possible way anyone could ever find out. I was torn apart, I felt like I had no one I could trust so I pushed them away. I guess in a way I don't blame them for what they did and it didn't help I didn't say anything. But they didn't have to put me in corner, ignore me and then leave me." River said sadly as tears threatened to fall.

"No. Stop making excuses for them. You were hurt. It's natural to push people away. But as family they should know, they should push harder. Family doesn't turn they backs on you special if they were wrong." Logan said.

"A lot has happened and a lot has changed. I just want to move past it."

"It's still affects you."

"Some days are better than others." River said,"I'm sorry about the sad tears, no one wants to see that. Special on their first date."

"So you're saying this was a date?" Logan asked excitedly as he wrapped his arm around River's waist.

She shivered at the contact on his hand around her waist. She then slapped his hand away from her waist,"No, a friendly date." River simply shot him down before he can get any ideas.

Logan rubbed his hands,"awu, River you're hurting my feelings." Logan laid his hand on his chest.

River chuckled before she continued walking. She jumped when she felt a warm cloth wrapped around her shoulders. She looked up and saw Logan wrapping his coat around her,"thank you, though I don't need it. Cold resistance. "

"Just let me do this." He smiled softly as they silently walked the quiet streets of Europe. As the night got darker, the moon and stars became the only source of light.

River came to a halt,"this is me." Looked at a small rental house just off to the side."Thank you for today. It been a while and I've forgotten the feeling." River said with a smile that never faded,"even if it felt like you were threatening my life most of the time and a lot of sad moments." Both logan and River laughed,"but I really did enjoy today."

"I'm glad you did." Logan smiled.

"Yeah. Well it was nice knowing you Logan. I hope we meet again somewhere near future." River said as she turned to walked the steps to her front porch.

"River wait!" Logan said.

"What is it?" River asked as she turned towards him.

"By any chance can you come here for varsity." Logan asked.

"I don't know." She said unsure," I was planning on attending a school close home." River noticed Logan's face drop,"but meeting you has got me considering it."

Logan face lit up,"I do hope you do. I would really like to know more about you." He said hopefully,"but just in case." He placed his hand behind River's neck and the thumb on her cheek, he leaned in.

River's eyes widen and her body tensed up as she held her breath as he inched closer. He moved away from they almost touching lips and kissed the corner of her mouth,"bye River." He said before he walked away.

As Logan walked away, he felt disappointed. He wanted to kiss River at same time didn't. One of the most important reasons was he knew she wasn't ready.

River stood there stunned, gulped hard. She hesitantly ran her fingers next to her mouth where Logan kissed with his soft, warm lips.
