"I'll change her bandages." Edward offered while Carlisle and the rest of the Cullens left.

Carlisle nodded before closing the door.

Edward gathers everything not once looking at the sad River. It broke his heart knowing she cared so deeply for man that wasn't him.

He remembered when River used to look at him the same way she looks at Logan.

He unneccessary swallowed the lump on his throat and clearing it,"are you alright?"

"Honestly no. I just lost yet another important person in my life. I don't know how much more I can take. Everyone is leaving me."

"That's not true."

River humorlessly laughed,"yeah you left, katherine, Charlie, mom, dad, rose, allie, Emmy jess. You all left.".

"But we came back for you...all for you."

"Its different this time around. Logan...I don't know what I'll do if I ever lost Logan. He's mad. Logan is never mad." Tears welded up in her eyes.

"He's just worried about you. He won't stay mad forever." Edward said comfortably,"despite everything else I know he cares about you very deeply."

"Yeah. Guess you're right." River said,"are you not going try and convince me to drink it."

"Selfishly I do want you too drink some of it so I can have you for a little longer." Edward said,"but I know better than to force you into anything you're not ready to do."

"Edward.... What Victoria said...."

"Its true."

"I don't get it. You left me for Bella. How am I your mate. How is this possible?"

"Back than I didn't realised it. I took you for granted."

"When?" River suddenly asked,"when you realise it.:

"Before I left. That arguement we had in the bathroom."

River stays silent,"I still don't get it Edward. How do you know I'm the one? What is a mate exactly? "

"Its someone you have a strong connection with, and I've had it ever since I held you in my arms. Your eyes captured my very existence. I've felt drawn to you ever since. A mate is someone you don't want to live another day without them. You would die, live and kill for them. You will do anything, be anything she's need. You'll spend the rest of your life trying to make her happy than the last day." Edward explained as she looked into River's eyes.

"You know all I ever thought about was you. How much I've hurt you. I wanted to die. I thought you'll be better off knowing I was dead because than I can't ." He looked away,"I wanted to end my life cause I couldn't bare not having you in my life. I refused to let another day pass without you in it....but when I saw you in volterra. I got hope back. A chance to win you back."

"Edward..."

"I know...you don't feel the same anymore....and it's because of Logan. You love him don't you?"

River frowned as she turned her head away,"maybe, I don't know."

"Is he everything I just said and do you want to be the same for him?"

River thought about it for a minute,"yes."

"Than you love him."

"But..." River swallowed the bile rising in her mouth,"I love you."

"I know you do but not the same as before." Edward said,"lay back so I can change your bandages."

"You're pushing me away, so the obvious choice is Logan. Isn't it?"
