River watched Logan carefully, studying his every movement, the way he spoke and the way he held and presented himself. He wore a grey T-shirt, black jeans and long black jacket on his slender and muscular built body. He wore many bead necklaces and bracelets some with strange symbols. River immediately knew he was a bad boy and she would well to stay far away from him. But she couldn't help but to admire his handsomeness and a thing behind his electric blue eyes.
She quickly looked away when he caught her gaze.
Logan had an amused expression,"It's you, isn't it? From Volterra." He said in his faint British accent,"what are you doing here?"
River looked into his eyes and doesn't respond, too busy admiring his sharp, handsome features.
"Are you following me?" He kept asking.
River quickly snapped out of it and came back after his ridiculous question,"No, if you must know, I have better things to do than follow you around. I don't even know you." River said.
"Okay, we're getting off on the wrong foot here." He said as he stepped back, his hands held up in defence,"hi, my name is Logan Chase." He introduced and extended his hand.
River looked with a frown before she hesitatly took it," River Cullen." she said.
He smirked causing dimples to form on each side of his cheeks,"it's nice to meet you River Cullen." Her name rolled perfectly on his British lips. He stretched out his hand.
"Same here, Logan Chase." River said with gently smile.
"So, what brings you to our humble university?" Logan asked as he looked beside him and continued walking.
"Nothing. I'm university hunting and I thought I'll check out this one." River looked ahead as she continued walking.
"Where are you from?"
"Washington."
"Wow! You're far away from home."
"Yeah."
"That's too bad. I was looking forward to seeing more of you." Logan said with little smile.
River smiled as she blushed,"who are you really? And what were you doing in Volterra?" She stopped to face him.
"I should be asking you that. You're the one hanging around vampires." He whispered.
"Huh! So you do know they exist." River slightly yelled as she pointed at him.
Logan pulled River towards him, away from prying eyes and ears and looked around,"shhh...be careful. We don't know if anyone is eardropping on us and our conversation. We wouldn't want the Volturi on our tails."
River stared at him stunned at how much he knew and the fact he was human made things more confusing. She became red at how close they were. She could feel his breath on her face,"dude, personal space."
Logan rolled his eyes before he stepped back to lean on support post of the building,"What are you? You're not a vampire." He studied her,"or human."
River stared at him,"what makes you so sure?"
"It's in the colour of your eyes and the smell."
"Oh.." River said unconvinced,"is that how you can tell I'm not a vampire."
"Yes." Logan inched closer to the nip of her neck to sniff her hair,"no one has that kind of colour blue eyes and you..... bittersweet like an apple, no a green apple."
"Apples?" River become red and hot from the closeness. She quickly backed away,"okay, now I know you're lying. Clearly you're not going to tell me anything. And I'm not going to tell you anything. Let's just go our separate ways." River said as she turned the other way.
Logan chuckled,"wait! I'm sorry...You know what, let me make it up to you. Dinner sometimes. I'll tell you everything you need to know."
"Are you asking me out?" River took to adjust to him question asked unsure.
"Yeah." Logan crossed his arms.
"As in like a date?" River asked unsure. She's never been asked out before. Yes Edward took her out sometimes. She wasn't sure if she considered any one those a date. Things were different in a way.
"Yes, why not." Logan shrugged.
River looked down and smiled,"I don't think that's a good idea." She looked up and stared into his confused eyes,"Because I'm leaving Europe in a few days."
"Than it won't hurt? Just one date and you will never have to see me again."
"No. I don't know you. You don't know me."
"Yeah. Isn't it the point of this? To get to know each other."
"I'll think about it." River's mouth opened slight said,"it was nice meeting you Logan." She said before she left.
Next Day
River was sitting in the library reading mythical creatures when suddenly Logan came and set in front of her across the table.
"Can I help you?" River asked not moving her eyes from the book.
"Yes. I'm here to get answer."
"About what again?" River asked still not lifting her head to look at him.
"The thing we talked about yesterday. You promised you'll think about it. So I'm waiting for your answer."
"What did I promise again?"
"Oh..." Logan placed his hand on his chest, hurtfully,"River, you're breaking my heart."
River smirked,"I forgot but I will give answer tomorrow."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Next Day
River came out of the library and spotted Logan by exit door, waiting. River turned the other way and decided to take a long way.
"Where are you going?" Logan asked chasing after her.
"I don't understand why this is important to you? I'm leaving in less than three days." River said.
"Just one date. It won't hurt anyone." Logan said,"just as friends. I'll tell you everything you need to know." He saw how hesitant River was,"unless there is someone else."
River looked away disappointed,"it's non of your business." River angrily said before she walked away.
"Wait I didn't mean to offend you."
"Logan. I'm not that kind of girl, I think you will particularly like." River cringed.
"Tell me what kind of girl are you?"
River smirked,"I'm not your restaurant, dinner kind of girl. I'm a picnic kind of girl. In a middle of meadow where the sun shines brightest, surrounded by trees and beautiful different colourful flowers. A small stream nearby where you hear a calming flow of water. White water lilies which are favourite, flowing on top." River smiled widely as she described a meadow she and Edward found years ago. She then remembered the day he confessed his feelings for her in that very same reason and all the times they've shared and made on that very spot.
"Sounds like you've been there. There was someone else wasn't it?" Logan asked.
River's smile faded as she remembered Edward and the pain he has caused her,"you can say that." She bend her head down and closed her eyes,"but I got to stop living in the past, right?"
"Yeah I guess."
"Fine. Tomorrow lunch." River said before she walked off.
"Thank you." He looked at River at the sudden agreement yelled excitedly.
"Whatever." River shouted as she walked away with a blush and a small smile.
"You won't be disappointed." He shouted
"You better not." River shouted back with a smile plastered on her lips and a small blush.
