River stepped inside her black mustang with blue highlights and drove browsing through the snowy my streets of Alaska. She just arrived a few moments ago from the airport.

She looked through the window as she passed the Denali's house. She thought about stopping by since the Cullens went in sight but she thought against it. If the Denali knew she was in Alaska they won't hesitate to call the Cullens and inform the about her were about.

Instead she chooses to go straight ahead. After a while River stopped and got out of her car and took out her phone from her jean pocket,"hey."

"Hey." Charlie said,"is everything alright?" He asked in a tired tone.

"Yeah, everything is fine." River said looking at a her surroundings that were covered by snow and ice.

"When are you coming back? Graduation is in a few weeks." Charlie sounded to be moving around and crumbling papers which means he's in the office or at home working.

River hesitating in her response,"I know that's why I'm calling... I might not make it."

"What? Why not?" Charlie stopped whatever he was doing.

"Remember about that talk we had about telling you everything..."

"Everything I need to know." Charlie finished for her,"yeah, I remember." A squeaked was heard on the other line as Charlie leaned back on his chair.

"Yeah." River whispered as she nodded as if he see it.

"And I don't need to know this?" He stated.

River nodded again before answering,"yes but I promise I'll be careful."

Charlie debated with himself before he sighed,"I wish you'll tell me if you're in some kind of trouble."

"You can rest easy old man I'm not at least not this time." River grinned.

"I'm not that old." Charlie huffed offended.

River laughed shortly,"you know you can trust me."

Charlie stayed silent for a while,"fine. As long as you come back soon in one piece."

River smiled before she scratch the back of her neck sheepishly,"thank you, dad. Love you."

"Love you too. Be careful."

"I will." River said ready to hang up.

"River?" Charlie stops her.

"Yeah?" Bring her phone back to her ear.

"Maybe you should call the Cullens first. They're worried about you." Charlie said gently so not to angrier her.

River sighed,"I can't. I'm not ready to face them."

"Is this why you're not coming home?"

"It's one of the reasons, yes." River said as she took a deep breath of the cold Alaskan breeze.

"Maybe I should tell them where you are. Maybe they can help you."

"No, I don't need them. I can do this on my own." River quick to respond.

"There is no shame in asking for help." He softly said.

She sighed,"I'll talk to them when I get home. Okay?" River said through her clenched teeth.

"Okay, okay. I'll let you do your thing." Charlie said in defence mode,"how about Jake? He says you haven't talked to him in weeks is that true?"

It was true. She hasn't built up the courage to face Jacob or anyone from the Quileute or anyone back home. She has killed countless men. Even though they were vampires and they have killed countless innocent humans before, even though the Quileute tribe kill vampires, it didn't make it any less painful. Taking a life is something she never thought she would do. It was horrible and the guilt was eating her. It was a weight she had to carry every day and it was heavy on her mind, conscious, body and heart.
