{ Adley }

I was jittery as I walked across campus and back to my dorm. I knew my boyfriend, Calum, was probably almost here or already waiting for me there. We've been dating for about three months now and tonight I was meeting his friends. Calum's very cautious when it comes to relationships, so me meeting his friends had to wait a little- and I was perfectly fine with that.

I walked into the residence hall and up to my floor, pushing my key into my dorm room door and walking in, a little shocked that only my roommate, Miya, was in there,

"Better get dressed girl. Your boy will be here soon" Miya spoke, her eyes never leaving her phone. I rolled my own and opened the closet on my side of the room. I finally decided on jeans, sweater, and booties then went into the connected bathroom to get ready.

The knock on the door made me jump. I heard Miya hop off her bed so I didn't bother moving. I heard her open it and say hi then Calum appeared in the bathroom doorway,

"Hey" he smiled when he saw me,

"Hey Cal" I smiled, "I'm almost done"

"Take your time" he nodded and moved past me to sit on the closed toilet seat.

I kept taking glances at Calum as I did my makeup. He looked good, dressed in black jeans, a white shirt, and a black leather jacket. His hair was done and his curls were tamed.

I put my stuff down and turned to Calum. He moved his feet apart and pulled me to stand between his legs,

"Ready?" He titled his head up. I nodded and he pressed a quick kiss to my lips before standing.

"I'm leaving Miya!" I called as I grabbed my purse and phone. She waved me off and I took Calum's hand, locking my dorm room back behind me.

We got stuck in some traffic, but that was okay because we left early enough.

Calum was holding my hand in my lap, his thumb tapping the beats to the songs on the back of it. I glanced over and smiled. His head was bobbing causing his sunglasses to keep falling.

The song changed and I knew what it was right away- American Idiot by Green Day,

"Oh yeah! Get ready to sing baby" Calum looked over then turned the volume up,

"DON'T WANNA BE AN AMERICAN IDIOT!" We screamed,

"DON'T WANT A NATION THAT DOESN'T DO MEDIA" Calum took this line.

We continued switching off until the song was over, both busting out into laughs.

We got off at an exit and my hand tightened on Calum's a little bit. He let go briefly, turning the radio down then returning his hand to mine,

"You okay?" He rubbed soft circles with his thumb,

"I'm nervous. They're going to think I'm a baby. I'm nineteen and you guys are all twenty-three and older" I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I really was nervous. I was meeting his friends and their girlfriends for the first time.

"I promise it will be fine. They'll love you" Calum sent me a smile and a wink. I nodded and as we stopped at a red light, he leaned over the console and pecked my lips.

We reached an Italian restaurant and Calum parked near the back of a row. He got out and I waited for him to come around and open my door. He told me if I ever opened the door on my own, he'd put the child lock on so I couldn't open the door. He had told me the first time we ever went out, that he was a gentleman and opens his girl's doors.

Calum took my hand as we walked inside. He looked around then lightly tugged my hand when he saw his friends,

"Back there" he grinned. We walked through the restaurant and came to a long table with three other couples,

"Hey guys!" Calum waved, "This is my girlfriend, Adley"

"Oh my gosh! Hi! We've been dying to meet you" the blonde with a pinkish tint waved as Calum and I sat at the end,

"That's Crystal and her fiancé Michael" Calum pointed, "That's Ashton and KayKay. And that's Luke and Sierra"

"Nice to meet you all" I smiled as Calum rested his arm on the back of my chair. The three guys were eyeing me oddly.

The waiter came around and got our drinks and food orders the left us alone to talk,

"Weird question but is Adley your real name or is it a nickname?" Michael asked me, making Crystal hit his arm,

"No. My real name is Adaline but for as long as I can remember, everyone has called me Adley" I laughed. That's a question I get a lot.

"Cal said you go to UCLA? What are you studying?" Ashton asked, leaning forward slightly,

"I do. I'm an Economics major" I nodded,

"Geez. Business degrees are hard. I was a business major. Are you able to work then?" Sierra asked. I knew this was their way of asking if I was just with Calum for money- which I'm not.

"Well, it's complicated. I play college basketball and I can't work with school and basketball. It's against rules to work during the season. I work when I go home for the summer though" I shrugged,

"So where's home?" Luke spoke up,

"Orlando. I work at the Disney in the summer, or I usually do. I have a paid internship here for when the seasons over" I let them know. I watched Michael's eyes widen,

"That's so cool" he whispered. I heard Calum laugh next to me,

"Any siblings?" Crystal asked,

"Three older brothers" I laughed,

"Fuck. Watch out Cal" Ashton teased.

When our food came out, I didn't talk much as I ate. I listened to everyone else talk.

When we finished, Calum paid for the two of us and we all headed out- everyone to their respective homes and Calum and I back to UCLA's campus to drop me off.

Calum had to park a little further than he usually does on campus so he walked with me to my dorm. Plus it was dark and I was not about to walk by myself.

We got to my floor and stopped in front of my dorm, knowing Miya was asleep. Calum's hands rested on my hips while I let mine go around the back of his neck,

"Thanks for coming and meeting them all" Calum smiled,

"I had fun. You're cute when you're with them. You're all giggly" I teased, watching his face go red.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine for a few seconds,

"Get in there and sleep. I'll see you soon. Maybe we can hang out tomorrow night?" He questioned,

"I have a scrimmage game" I sighed,

"No worries. I'll come by this week or you can come to mine. We'll figure it out" he shrugged but a smile still on his face.

He pressed one more kiss to my lips,

"Alright. Go get some sleep" he took my key and unlocked the door,

"Goodnight Adley"

"Goodnight Cal"
