{ Adley }

Calum and I headed down the stairs once I was texted, saying that breakfast was ready. Calum and I were still mostly asleep, but as soon as we entered the kitchen, my grandmother's loud voice woke us up immediately.

"Oh honey I missed you" she hugged me tight then pulled away, "And who is this handsome young man?"

Calum's cheeks flushed,

"Mom, it's 8 am. It's too early for that" my dad laughed but Calum collected himself,

"I'm Calum, Adley's boyfriend" he hugged my grandmother,

"It's very nice to meet you"

Finally, we all sat down for breakfast.

When we finished eating, I helped clean up while Calum and Trent talked. They've gotten along pretty well the past few days,

"I'm running to get gas for the boat. You wanna come with me?" I heard Trent ask. I looked back to find Calum looking at me,

"You don't need my permission" I laughed. Calum chuckled then told my brother yes.

{ Calum }

I got in the car with Adley's brother, Trent. I was pretty nervous, to be honest. Sometimes big brothers are harder than parents. The drive was quiet for the most part except for a couple of get-to-know-you questions.

After we had got gas, we went to a small grocery store after their dad texted Trent about some things we needed to get.

We entered and grabbed a couple of things before a guy approached us in an aisle,

"Trent! Hey man," the guy grinned. Trent did not look happy to see him,

"Don't 'hey man' me Colin" Trent responded rather harshly,

"Chill out" the guy, Colin, laughed, "Heard that cute sister of yours is back in town for her birthday"

My eyes widened,

"Don't even think about coming over" Trent rolled,

"I won't. Your dad might kill me" Colin laughed, "Tell Adaline I said hi"

He walked off after that and Trent groaned,

"Who was that?" I asked right away,

"I'll tell you in the car" Trent shook his head.

I nodded and continued to follow him. I had a feeling this Colin guy dated or had a thing with Adley in the past.

As soon as we got into the car, I was looking at Trent who was backing out,

"Colin is Adley's ex" he started, "He's a couple of years older and basically controlled her. He had her brain-washed. He was a dick too. He always talked so meanly to her but she wouldn't do anything about it"

He paused and glanced at me,

"I'm sure you know Adley hates when people treat her or look at her like she's a little kid. He was a big reason. Anytime she did anything, he'd get mad at her and tell her to grow up. One year before her birthday, we were having dinner and Colin was there. Dad asked Adley if she still wanted to go to Disney for the day. Of course, she said yes. Colin told her Disney was for kids and she needed to grow up. I thought my dad was going to come unglued. We thought Adley would stick up for herself like normal, but she didn't, and instead we did nothing on her birthday. Then through every action, we had realized that she was being forced to be older and we found out Colin was controlling her"

"What a dick" I mumbled, "I swear I'm not like that"

"We know dude. And honestly, I've never seen Adley happier. She's so in love with you" Trent laughed,

"I'm in love with her too" I smiled.

{ Adley }

I sat at the front of the boat with Calum as we headed out onto the lake. We were sitting across from each other with my feet up in his lap,

"Ads, are we getting the tube out?" Dad asked, coming to a stop in the middle of the lake,

"Do you want to?" I asked Calum,

"Hell yeah," he grinned.

Dad laughed and got the tube out and attached to the boat while Calum and I put on life jackets,

"I've never done this before" Calum whispered, making me look at him with shock,

"Be prepared. Dad doesn't go easy"

We climbed onto the tube and laid on our stomachs, as we floated out,

"If you fall off, stay put and raise your arm up," I told him,

"Got it" he grinned and pecked my lips.

We both grabbed onto the handles and I nodded to my dad who wasted no time and took off full speed, Calum and I jerking back.

Dad was swinging us side to side, trying to knock us off by flying over the wake, but Calum and I managed to hold on. We were both cracking up laughing the whole time.

The next thing we knew, Dad turned the boat and Calum and I flew, hitting the wake at an angle and going airborne, letting go of the tube and landing next to each other in the water.

We surfaced and I swam over to Calum, wrapping my legs around him as he held his arm up,

"That was fucking fun"

Once it got dark, I grabbed the golf cart keys, and Calum and I drove over to party cove. He held onto the blankets while I drove. We decided we wouldn't stay the night so I didn't bother dragging my dad's truck out.

I pulled into the sand area and saw my friends already set up with a fire going. I took Calum's hand and led him over to them and set up our spot and sat down,

"Guys this is Calum" I introduced, "Calum this is Lexi, Gabe, Nikki, and Tyler"

"Nice to meet you all" Calum nodded,

"You too man" Gabe nodded then tossed both Calum and me a White Claw.

We were all telling stories as the fire crackled. I had managed to get out of the embarrassing ones- that's as until Calum spoke up,

"Alright, I need some good stuff on Adley" he teased,

"So one time" Lexi started, "Adley decided she wanted to pierce her belly button. So we met here and did it. Well, dumbass went in the lake after and the next morning had to rush to the emergency room because it was infected. Her parents didn't know she did it until then so she got grounded"

"What about that time Adley crashed the boat!" Tyler yelled out,

"So you can't drive a car and you can't drive a boat" Calum teased,

"I didn't crash it" I rolled my eyes,

"She was taking it to the marina to get gas and when she pulled up, she hit the dock without the bumpers. Scratched the hell out of the boat"

"Yeah" I laughed, "Dad was pretty pissed about that, but he forgot the next day when Dylan tried to kill me"

"Oh fuck! That's right" Nikki yelled,

"He what?" Calum was now concerned,

"Trent was backing the boat out and I was sitting on the ski deck. Dylan pushed me off the back while the motor was going. Dad jumped in and got me before I got attacked by the blades"

"Damn Adley" Calum kissed my head,

"But I'm okay. I'm in one piece" I giggled, now solely focused on Calum,

"And I'm very grateful for that" he nodded, "I love you"

"I love you too"
