Today is mine and Adley's one-year anniversary. We were going to dinner tonight then coming home and watching a movie. Thankfully I didn't have to work but unfortunately, Adley had school.

I just got home from going and picking up Adley's gift. I got her a promise ring. It's a really pretty ring. It's silver with a heart that has diamonds in it. I already know I'm going to spend the rest of my life with her but right now I feel as if an engagement ring isn't right. I wanted to do the promise ring because I feel like with where we are now, that's what it should be.

Thankfully I hid her present just in time because she came strolling through the door,

"Hi love. I haven't seen you all day" I laughed, taking her backpack from her and setting it on the chair,

"I know" she nodded then hugged me, nuzzling her head against my chest,

"Happy one year Adley" I whispered. She pulled back and looked up at me,

"Happy one year Calum" she kissed me then pulled away,

"I need to shower before we go to dinner. Want to join?" Adley quirked an eyebrow,

"Fuck yeah I do"

We finally got to dinner and let me tell you, Adley looked gorgeous.

We walked in and were taken to our table where they brought wine over right away,

"I'm not going to drink. I don't want them to get in trouble because I'm underage" she told me. I nodded a bit confused because we've come here before and she's drunk the wine, but I wasn't going to question her. I wasn't going to pressure her to drink it or anything,

"What do you think you're going to get babe?" I asked as we looked over the menu,

"I don't know. I don't even think I'll be able to eat a full plate" she spoke. She hardly ever eats a full plate which is fine of course,

"We can share something. The portions here are big enough" I offered. Adley nodded,

"You choose baby," I told her,

"How about the chicken parmigiana?"

"That works" I smiled.

When the waiter came over I ordered our food and had him bring us some waters before turning back to Adley,

"How was class today?" I asked, taking her hand in the table,

"Good. Long too" she sighed, "I think I'm gonna skip tomorrow since I know we're gonna be up late and stuff tonight"

"I'm off tomorrow too so that's perfect"

"Yay. We can have a lazy day"

I smiled,

"I have a gift for you at home" Adley spit out,

"You do?" I raised an eyebrow, and she nodded, "Well guess what? So do I"

After a really nice and comfortable dinner, I could tell Adley was wearing down and just wanted to go home.

So we got home and changed into sweatpants and t-shirts then headed into the living room, both of us with presents in our hands,

"I want you to open yours first," I told her. She nodded and took the bag from me and sat the one she had for me on the coffee table. She slowly pulled out the ring box and I saw her eyes tear up before she looked up at me,

"Open it" I encouraged.

Adley opened the box and gasped,

"A promise ring"

I nodded and took it from her and slid it on her finger,

"I promise you that I will always be here for you. And I promise one day in the near future, that ring will be replaced with an engagement ring"

Adley teared up and hugged me tightly,

"I love you" she whispered,

"I love you too" I smiled and we both pulled back,

"Open yours," she told me and gave me a gift bag. She was biting her lip so she was obviously nervous about this.

I pulled the tissue paper from the bag then pulled out six different pregnancy tests,

"No fucking way" my eyes lit up. Adley was nodding and crying,

"You're for real?"

Adley nodded again and I started to cry. I hugged her so tight. I was in shock. After losing our baby, we knew we wanted to be parents. We've been trying with absolutely no luck- until now,

"I have an appointment next week for the first ultrasound," Adley told me,

"Oh my god. Baby this is amazing" I spoke then gasped and leaned down to her flat stomach, "Hi baby. It's your daddy"

Adley took my hand and I looked at her,

"Are you happy?"

"I'm fucking stoked"
