Adaline Slater, better known as Adley, is the 19 year old UCLA student-athlete. Her normal life has clashed with her rockstar boyfriend Calum Hood. She's younger than Calum, so how do his friends deal with that? Do people only see the relationship...
Somehow I was up before Calum. Although I was awake, I couldn't go anywhere-not that I wanted to- but I physically could not move. Calum's head was on my chest and his arms were wrapped around my waist.
My phone was buzzing on the side table and I knew I needed to grab it before it woke Calum up. I slowly moved my arm and grabbed it. My friends were all awake and texting about tailgate plans for the football game today. I convinced Calum to come with me.
I quickly checked the time and saw that it was already 10:00 and we were to be at the tailgate by noon,
"Cal" I whispered, letting my hand run through his curls, "We need to get up"
"Five more minutes" he grumbled and tightened his hold on me. I went to agree but Duke jumped off the bed and was begging to be let outside,
"Your dog needs to pee"
Calum whined but let go of me and slowly got out of bed, pulling on a pair of shorts and rubbing a hand through the unruly curls on his head,
"Let's go Duke" Calum spoke and opened the room door, Duke taking off out it.
I laid in bed for a few seconds before I got up. I walked out to the kitchen where Calum was sitting at the island waiting for Duke to ask to be let back in,
"What time do we have to be there?" he questioned once he saw me, turning and opening his arms so I'd sit on his lap- which I did,
"Noon. Games at two" I answered. He nodded then placed a kiss on my lips,
"Are you going to drink?" he questioned, making my eyes furrow,
"Yeah?" I spoke slow, questioning why he asked,
"I was just asking because you know, we're trying for a baby now"
I softened,
"I'm not pregnant Cal"
"How do you know?"
"I just know" I placed a hand on his cheek,
"Can you take a test? I mean we have some in the bathroom"
Since we had our talk, he's all in with this baby thing but now that we're actually trying, it's not going as well as it did when we weren't,
"I thought we weren't going to take them unless we were positive?" I retorted. We had said we wouldn't take a test until we were pretty confident. We just didn't want to keep getting our hopes up just to be disappointed,
"I-I just want to be sure"
I nodded and leaned in and pressed a kiss to his lips,
"If you really want me to I will but we can't get upset when it's negative"
"I know"

Calum and I were dressed and ready to leave but first I had to take that pregnancy test. I took the test and now I'm sitting on the bathroom counter while he stands in front of me with the timer on his phone,
"Why do I get so nervous?" Calum chuckled, "We want this"
"Maybe because we want it so bad we're nervous for the results to be negative" I shrugged,
"Yeah maybe" he sighed just as the timer was almost done.
As soon as it went off, we counted to three and flipped the test over,
Negative,
"I'm sorry" I sighed, knowing that he for sure thought it was positive,
"There's nothing for you to apologize for" Calum assured and kissed my lips, "We just have to try again"
I nodded and leaned into his hold as he hugged me,
"I love you"
"I love you too"

We finally got to the tailgate and found all my friends. Carson, Trevor, and Matt all gave Calum a big 'bro hug' as soon as they saw him. I quickly hugged Faye, Miya, and Kelsey,
"It's good to see you again. It's been a while" Matt told Calum as he handed him a beer,
"Since that lacrosse party before lockdown," Calum chuckled and let me have a sip. I handed him the can back then walked off with the girls, sitting on the back of Trevor's truck's tailgate.
We were laughing and telling stories and such until the guys walked over. Calum handed me a White Claw, which I accepted and took a drink,
"We've got to all get together more. I've missed this" Carson hopped up next to Faye,
"Seriously, but school's super strict right now so we have to be careful on what we do" Matt shrugged. The boys ended up in conversation and Miya pulled me off to the side,
"How's the baby thing going?" she asked. I had told her that we were trying. She's one of my best friends so I had to tell her,
"Not like we planned. I think we thought since we got pregnant so easily not trying, we would with trying" I shrugged, "I just hate that Calum gets so excited then we take a test and it's negative"
"I mean, I know it's tough, but you just gotta keep hoping" Miya smiled,
"Yeah. But at least it's fun to try"
"That it is" Miya laughed as Carson ran over,
"Let's go, we're going into the stadium"
We both nodded and headed back to the group. I took Calum's hand and guided him inside. He and I weren't feeling the crowd so we decided to just sit at the bar and watch the game. I happened to look over at Calum at one point and he looked so confused, which I took as an opportunity to embarrass him,

"I hate you" Calum laughed when he saw it,
"No you don't" I rolled my eyes, "But you know what I said was true"
"No you are definitely right" he laughed, "Wanna go get food then go home?"
"Absolutely" I grinned, "Maybe we can try the baby thing again"
