Chapter 31

Opening her eyes, she was greeted by the bright light. She adjusted her eyes and looked around the room to notice she was in the hospital and her first thought was. 'Shit I'm not dead' Y/n thought. If she had done this earlier or when they were sleeping, her life would be done for and she would lose a lot of blood so it would be impossible to come back.

She could easily recognize white walls and she knew it was a hospital, but what surprised her more is Boruto who was sitting on a chair, his face was resting against her bed, somewhat close to her legs. This reminded her with the fire accident, when she was burnt and he also stayed up all night long just to see her wake up. But this time his eyes seemed more tired than ever, and even darker circled were under his eyes. Y/n never knew a person can get tired like this before.

He even had red eyes, and puffy nose from crying. Y/n felt bad immediately, he must have been in agony while he was hoping and praying she would wake up and be okay. He must have been so worried by the look of it, but Y/n was sure he wasn't going to wake up anytime soon, by the look of his face he was tired as fuck. "Oh, Y/n." Suddenly she heard a voice and trailed her eyes to the door, it was Mitsuki who entered and he walked over to her and stopped beside Boruto, in front of Y/n.

Y/n was surprised to see Mitsuki in the hospital as well, she didn't expect it. "Mitsuki...?" Y/n asked, but her voice was barely more than a whisper. Mitsuki looked over at Boruto for a second, his eyes didn't leave him. She could see he was worried for Boruto and she couldn't blame him, Boruto did look pretty tired. But Mitsuki soon snapped out of it and looked at Y/n again. "I heard what happened. Boruto has been here all the time, he wouldn't leave you. He was sometimes crying as well, because doctor said you have a small chance to make it." Mitsuki explained and Y/n was confused how can such small chances be so accurate. If only she stabbed herself in the throat...

Or in the heart... But, it's too late now. However, Mitsuki wasn't done talking. "We were all worried for you. Everyone visited you, even Sumire. As you can see by the flowers over there, Inojin and Himawari put them for you if you woke up." Mitsuki explained, pointing to a desk beside her that had a lot of yellow sunflowers on it. Y/n felt her heart warm at the sight of it but it still felt sad. They all did care for her, they all came and they even put these flowers here for her... "How long have I been away?" Y/n asked, her voice was still a little raspy. She could still feel pain in her hands where she cut deep, it was her own fault for doing so.

She couldn't have been out long, right? "More than two weeks. Boruto didn't sleep much, he just stayed up all night and day. Everyone tried to cheer him up but it never worked." Mitsuki explained and Y/n felt really bad now. He loved her, and cared for her, and she returned it by dying and making him broken. She really was a bad person, wasn't she? She didn't deserve him, he is precious. If she never met him, he wouldn't be crying. She felt so sad when she saw him cry, it was just heartbreaking. She never wants to see him sad or crying, ever.

She wanted to hug him so badly and just feel him beside her again to tell her how much she's sorry but he needed rest now. "It's best to leave him to rest now, he needs to sleep. He's probably very tired." Mitsuki added and Y/n nodded slowly, he did look pretty tired. Yet his snores were heard, and Y/n always adored them. "Y/n, I'll go now. You should rest as well, you're still in pain." Mitsuki said and Y/n didn't complain, he was right. Her body did hurt a lot, and it wasn't normal of how much it hurt like hell. "Yes, I will..." Y/n said and Mitsuki closed the door again, leaving Y/n alone in the room with Boruto. Closing her eyes slowly, she tried her best to fall asleep.

Opening her eyes, Y/n grunted a little. She realized it was dark now, it wasn't day any longer. "Y/n! You're awake!" She looked at Boruto, he looked very relieved and happy to see her up. Y/n nodded her head and looked at him closely, he didn't rest much. He should have rested more but Y/n guessed he woke up himself earlier and stayed up. "Boruto, you should sleep..." Y/n said and Boruto shook his head.

Of course he won't listen, he is always so stubborn so he never listens. "I'm not going to sleep now that you're awake, ya know?" Boruto asked and Y/n knew that she couldn't change his mind no matter what she tells him. He always does everything his way, unfortunately. He pulled his chair closer to her, and Y/n watched him as he did so. She knew he would begin to ask her questions and Y/n didn't really want to answer any. Just as Boruto opened his mouth to talk, the door opened and Y/n looked at Mitsuki who had returned once again.

"Hello, I see you're both awake." Mitsuki said as he stepped beside Boruto. Y/n nodded her head but Boruto stayed silent. "Boruto, you should sleep. Now that you know Y/n is okay, you can go home." Mitsuki said but Boruto didn't seem like he will give in to that, by his face expression he wasn't convinced at all. "I'm not going anywhere, not now." Boruto answered and he returned his attention to Y/n again. Y/n could see disappointment but mostly worry in Mitsuki's eyes, and he nodded then stepped back and out of the room as he left them alone.

"You know, Mitsuki is right... You seem a lot tired." Y/n tried to say, he needs to understand that staying up here won't really help him. It will just be worse for his health. "I'm not going anywhere." Boruto kept his answer as it is, and Y/n couldn't do anything to change that. She knows how stubborn he is. "Why?" Boruto asked suddenly and Y/n titled her head in confusion. "Why what?" Y/n asked. His answer wasn't clear enough, she wasn't sure what he was trying to say. "Why did you try to... Die?" Boruto asked her and Y/n didn't know how to answer him.

"I just..." Y/n's answer died away, she didn't really want to talk about her commiting suicide or her depression. "Wanted to feel numb and free." Y/n finished her answer carefully, she didn't want to tell him any more. Boruto looked just so sad at this point, she wasn't sure if she wanted to say any more. "Didn't you think about me? About your friends? I would be so lost if you died..." Boruto frowned and Y/n felt guilty again, this was all her fault. If she never met him, all would be perfect. If she wasn't broken, she wouldn't have died. "You deserve better than me." Y/n said at last, he did deserve someone better. Someone who's not broken like she was. She would only break his heart more by dying.

"Stop talking nonsense! I love you, no one else." Boruto said, he looked in disbelief to what Y/n said. Y/n smiled at him a little, but she couldn't really smile much because she was still weak. "Stop it, I'm serious!" Boruto said and Y/n's smile already faded away at his words. "Please, promise me you won't do this again..." Boruto said but Y/n stayed quiet, she didn't want to promise something she can't keep. If she promised him now, she would break that promise. "I'm sorry, but I don't make promises I can't keep." Y/n said and Boruto frowned at her reply, he seemed even sadder now. Y/n could feel sadness washing over her too, just by looking at him.

"We'll get through this... I'll help you, I promise." Boruto said as he leaned over and kissed her on the forehead, and Y/n wasn't so sure about his promise. It will take time a lot of time. "How is everyone doing?" Y/n said as she changed the theme. She just hoped they didn't worry for her as much as Boruto. "They were all worried, especially Sarada and Sumire." Boruto said and Y/n was surprised, Sumire was worried for her? She must have changed her mind when Sophie went to jail.

"Did you stay here all these days?" Y/n asked and when Boruto nodded, she frowned. He shouldn't have, why did he stay here? "I think it's best you go home and sleep now." Y/n said, and once again he shook his head. He really won't give up, will he? Y/n wasn't sure what she should say to convince him to go. "Please... For me!" Y/n pleaded him trying her best to do puppy eyes. Boruto started at her and he seemed lost in her eyes, she supposed it worked. After a few moments of silence he sighed. "Okay... For you." Boruto said as he got up from his chair. He leaned in to kiss her on the lips softly. "But I'll come back again." Boruto said and Y/n nodded. And with that he walked over to the door, giving one last glance at Y/n before he opened the door and closed it shut behind him.
