Chapter 3

Boruto stared at Y/n from across his table, days had passed and every day Boruto worried for Y/n more and more. Boruto had pretty much a lot of experience with Sophie, so he knows how she really can be like. They were friends before, but she betrayed his trust and that's when Boruto just left her, she gets worse every year, taking advantage of students. And it looks like her next victim would be Y/n. 'Well, not on my watch!' Boruto thought to himself with determination, just as he was lost in his thoughts the bell rang and Boruto got up on his feet, walking over to Y/n. "You need help?" Boruto offered with a smile, he looked at her book then back at her, asking her if she needs help about carrying the books. But to his disappointment all she did was shake her head.

Frowning, Boruto realized that she turned around and she opened the door knob, about to leave. 'Not that quickly!' Boruto wasn't going to just let her go like that and pretend everything is 'fine'. He slammed his hand on the door, shutting it tight and then met Y/n's gaze with seriousness. "What's going on Y/n?" Boruto asked her, he could see her hesitate for a split second before she blinked up innocently at him. "What do you mean?" Y/n asked in a soft voice, Boruto's seriousness faded into anger. 'She's playing dumb! She knows very well what I mean! She just won't admit it!' Boruto was very angry, but he tried his best to control his anger and not yell at her or anything that might be offending, she is new here still. "You know what I'm talking about!" Boruto snapped. "Sophie is bad news, what's going on?" Boruto asked her.

Y/n took the hold on his arms, gently putting them away from the door and Boruto didn't complain, letting her do it as he watched her silently. Then, she faced him with her face full of anger. "I don't know what you're talking about! Sophie and her friends are being nice to me." Y/n said, her voice sounded confirming but Boruto could see very well that she was lying, even if she tries to cover it up he can see it very well. Mostly by the hesitation in her voice, she always hesitates before speaking when she's lying. "Y/n..." Boruto mumbled, his voice shook with sadness not sure what to say. He knows she's lying but she doesn't want to admit it and he can't just force her to tell the truth. She was avoiding his gaze, she looked obviously guilty before she leaned back, away from him and went out of the door leaving Boruto staring after her sadly.

"I get that you have a crush on her but don't bother me about it! It's such a drag..." Shikadai said with a sigh, obviously annoyed. Boruto blushed red and stared at Shikadai angrily. This is serious! Who knows what might happen, Y/n could be in danger and he does NOT have a crush on her! He's just worried for her is all. "Shikadai this is serious! You know Sophie!" Boruto said, and at his words Shikadai seemed lost in thought, his eyes darkening not revealing much. "I guess... But-" Before Shikadai could continue, his words were cut off by a bell as it rang, Shikadai got up on his feet and looked down at Boruto. "You worry too much. She'll be fine, she came here for a reason." Shikadai said, and with that he left without looking back.

'Everyone's leaving me without caring much about what I say now...' Boruto realized. After a few minutes of silence, Boruto got up on his feet with a sigh and started to walk out of the empty class, but as he was about to go upstairs he saw someone from distance... It was Sophie and Y/n? Growing curious, Boruto stared at them and noticed Sophie was dangerously close, mumbling something to Y/n and Y/n stared at Sophie with wide and feared eyes. Sophie looked back to see Boruto and her eyes widened in shock, she whispered something to Y/n and Boruto started to walk over to them. He was starting to really worry for Y/n and he knew his worried weren't valid.

Sophie faced Boruto with a wide smile and Boruto was staring at Y/n, completely worried and lost almost not hearing Sophie's words. "Hey Boruto! Wanna hang out?" Sophie asked, Boruto looked down at her, not caring much. "Maybe later." Boruto said, he pushed past Sophie and went over to Y/n, he doesn't want to be with Sophie at all. She betrayed his trust and he's not going to trust her ever again, all he could focus on now was Y/n that was in front of her. Boruto moved closer to her, his body few inches away from hers and leaned closer to her ear so he can whisper to her without Sophie hearing. "What happened?" Boruto whispered.

As he leaned back he could see Y/n avoiding his gaze and she closed her eyes, refusing to look or even talk to him making Boruto feel numb with sadness. He was very offended and hurt by her actions but he wasn't sure himself why, he just felt very sad that she didn't want to talk to him at all. Y/n at last met him gaze again. "Y/n please talk to me..." Boruto mumbled sadly, his sad sky blue eyes stared at hers, waiting for her response. He could see her eyes shine and glitter like she was about to cry and that made his heart fill with pain, she looked suddenly so sad and broken... But before he could do more, Y/n turned away and walked upstairs, Boruto rushed after her but Sophie came in front of his view.

"Boruto, please let's hang out! It won't be long!" Sophie pleaded, Boruto stared at her angrily, like he's going to do that after everything she did to him and other students in this school! "I can't now Sophie, I have to check on Y/n." Boruto said, keeping his voice firm. He tried to move past Sophie but she blocked his way again, her eyes glittered with sadness and she was at the verge of crying. "It won't be long, come on Boruto!" Sophie pleaded, Boruto ignored her sad look, not caring much about it. "I can't really-" Boruto started but Sophie cut him off. "Please...!" Sophie's voice shook with sadness and a tear rolled down her eye making Boruto feel instantly guilty. He hesitated, looking at Sophie then at the stairs not far off from him.

Y/n was already long gone, and she won't probably mind if he checks up on her later... Sophie just can't seem to leave him and Boruto didn't intend to make her cry. "... Fine." Boruto agreed, Sophie brightened up almost immediately and she led him away, frowning Boruto looked back at the stairs, leaving Y/n behind... 'I hope she's okay... I'll check up on her later, she has to be fine.'
