When you had first met him, you thought nothing of the possible repercussions of dating a member of the Avengers.

In fact, you just carried on with your usual life as per normal.

Well, 'normal', considering the fact that you've nearly been killed multiple times, been stalked by numerous different people and nearly kidnapped on the rare occasion...

It all just seemed to become the norm.

Besides, it's not like you ever worried.

You're decently enough trained in hand-to-hand combat and are quite skilled with a firearm for someone as typical as you are.

A typical girl.

Living a typical life.

Dating a typical man.

Well, a typical man who also happens to be a super soldier from the 1940s as well as Captain America...

Yeah, pretty typical.

In fact, as you finish up the last of your dinner dishes for one in the small kitchen of your even smaller apartment, you can't help but chuckle aloud to yourself.

"Imagine if everyone I knew found out I'm dating Steve Rogers - of all people!"

With a slight shake of your head, you place the plate you'd been washing on the drying rack beside your sink before hanging the washcloth over top of the tap, leaving the kitchen behind.

You flop down rather lazily on the couch, flicking on the TV and beginning to skim through channels.

"Nothing... Nothing..." You mutter, becoming annoyed as channel after channel doesn't perk your interest.

Finally, after scrolling through every TV channel you pay for, you huff in defeat, angrily powering off the screen and slamming the remote against the coffee table, your mind elsewhere.

I haven't heard from him in two days...

He said he'd be back at the Complex this afternoon sometime last time we spoke...

Maybe something else just came up?

Your nagging thoughts try to spiral darker, though you stop them, instead, turning on some soft jazz music to calm your sudden spike of nerves.

As the tones float from the speakers of the phone sitting on the couch beside you and fill the area around you, a light smile begins to tug at your lips.

Until a rather urgent sounding knock against your door startles you.

Instantly silencing your music, you leap off the couch and creep towards the door, wary of just who might be waiting for you on the other side.

Maybe it's another one of those twisted evil government people here to try and persuade me to get in a van with them.

Grabbing the small, compact pistol you keep stashed beneath a hidden ledge beneath your front window still, you undo the safety, poised and ready to take shots if need be.

However, as you slide the deadbolt out from its housing and whisk the door open, pistol aimed directly at the chest of the newcomer, surprise runs through you as the realization of just who's standing at your gunpoint registers with you.

The pistol finds its way to your side and then hastily shoved into the waistband of your pants as you let out a soft squeal, tackling the person in an embrace.
