Saturday itself became a blur, as with most days when you're with Tony.

However, today was different.

It wasn't filled with the usual tinkering and what you liked to call his "science experiments," which, with some more thought, you realize that is what everything Tony ever works on quickly becomes.

An experiment.

A test.

But rather than the usual, today was preparation for his rather haphazardly tossed together get-together.

And, needless to say, after the rather strenuous and bothersome afternoon, you honestly began to look forward to the coming evening.

However, when you showed up to Avengers Tower, only to be greeted by J.A.R.V.I.S who informed you that the building was currently empty, your senses immediately heightened.

Glancing at the watch on your wrist, you begin to pace the lobby of the building the AI had allowed you access to, a feeling of unease filling you.

When you had decided to leave your apartment only a few blocks away an hour earlier than what Tony had told you to be here at, you hadn't really expected to only be greeted by a voice over the speakers.

"J.A.R.V.I.S, are you sure Tony isn't here? I'm not sure where else he'd be..." You murmur aloud, continuing your pacing, clasping your hands firmly behind your back, passing headlights from outside dazzling your vision.

"Mr. Stark is in the building, he is just otherwise occupied at the moment, Miss L/N," The AI's voice echoes, earning a huff of annoyance from you.

"You know, J, when I asked you if anyone else was here, I figured you would've factored in Tony," I grumble, beginning towards the elevator that would take me upstairs, presumably to where the only other person currently in the building would be located.

"Miss L/N," J.A.R.V.I.S begins once more, his tone sounding almost cautionary as you press the button for the elevator, waiting for it to light up in response, only to receive no such acknowledgement.

"J.A.R.V.I.S," You mutter lowly, turning your back to the elevator and casting your gaze around the almost eerily dark foyer as if to try and make eye-contact with the artificial intelligence. "Get the elevator down here, please."

However, you receive no such response.

Just absolute silence.

"Fine," You grumble, shrugging to yourself as you wander towards the glass door at the other end of the room, a flight of stairs evident behind it. "I'll just take the stairs."

About halfway up the seemingly never ending staircase of Avengers Tower, you pause, leaning against the nearby wall, attempting to regain your breath.

"Who knew climbing a few hundred flights of stairs would be so difficult," You murmur aloud, running a hand through your hair before continuing onward, stifling a small yawn.

As you continue onward and upward, however, the rapid sound of someone else practically running down the stairs reaches you, their footsteps against the concrete steps reaching you.

I thought J.A.R.V.I.S said no one else was here... And it's not like he'd be using the stairs when there's a perfectly good elevator...

But, much to your surprise, as the footfalls echo closer and closer and a person is soon approaching you, a smile can't resist creeping onto your features.

"You're awfully early," The familiar figure now standing in front of you states, his usual air of humor following in his tone as he steps closer to you.
