Recap

...before either of you can continue much farther, a plethora of darkly clad figures surround you both, weapons outdrawn and poised to strike.

"Just hand over the Rings, Brother. And you both can return unscathed to your precious America."

"Sister..." The man beside you breathes, a crestfallen look beginning to surface on his features, his face illuminated by the moonlight streaming in through the windows lining the hallway.

"You heard the woman - hand them over," A familiarly dark voice demands from a distance, booted footsteps echoing from behind you, gaining your attention.

Grimacing inwardly, you both turn to face the newcomer, scowling at him.

It's the same man from the alleyway and table in the kitchen.

It's him.

"Not gonna happen," Shaun states firmly, his stance quickly becoming rigid as the Rings on his arms spring to life, illuminating their familiar orange color.

You quickly follow suit, raising your Bo Staff defensively, silently wincing as the stitches in your shoulder throb in protest.

The darkly clad figure in front of you both just laughs, hand resting casually on his sidearm.

"Need I remind you two that we had a deal?" He chuckles, nearing the pair of you with calculated, cold steps, pacing circles around you both. "You give me the Rings - or,"

He pauses dramatically, grinning wickedly at your disgusted figure.

"Ah. I see your shoulder wound is recovering quite well, Ms. L/N."

"Shut the hell up, would you?" You seethe, glaring daggers at the man in front of you, jaw clenching.

"No can do, princess," The man drawls, earning an even more disgusted look from you and especially Shaun, who he turns towards to continue. "You give me the Rings or you both get bullets right in between,"

The maniac pauses once more, a grin so insincere that it sends shivers down your spine as he presses his index finger between his eyes.

"Your eyes. Fatal shot. Boom."

Your footing shifts against the wooden floors, your heart beginning to pound in your chest.

"Well? What will it be? Times ticking!"

Out of the corner of your eye, the man beside you evidently deflates, his stance slacking slightly, the Rings instantly losing their glow.

"What are you doing?" You breathe in shock, turning to face your fiancé, wide eyed.

Shang-Chi doesn't reply.

Instead, he steps forward toward the same man who had shot you those few days ago, wordlessly sliding the rounded relics leaving his wrists and being placed in the palms of the enemy's hands.

"Hopefully making the right decision," He murmurs, quickly glancing your way before passing Xialing a hard stare, almost appearing to try and communicate a type of wordless message.

Stepping away from you both, you loosen your own stance completely now, shifting instinctively closer to Shaun.

We're not completely hopeless without those Rings.

Watching silently as the darkly clad figures all straighten at the sight of their leader, now examining the artifacts in his hands over so intricately, you could swear he might break them with his scrutinizing gaze.
