The continued AU where Bucky joins the Avengers after being brought in by Steve after Civil War where the divide of the Avengers never occurred. Now, you and he have been paired up on a mission to take down a HYDRA cell still active in Northern Ontario, Canada. Can you finally let your guard down and accept Bucky as a friend, or is there something more than just a simple friendship forming between you both?

"It certainly does look chilly down there," A voice hums lowly from beside you, his gaze wandering out the window of the Quinjet's cockpit window and over the landscape far below, bathed in white.

You simply nod in agreement, drumming your fingers against the plane's control console absentmindedly.

It had been a few hours since you and your Partner for this mission - Bucky Barnes - had left the Avengers Complex in the Quinjet Steve had assigned for the pair of you to use as your mode of transportation.

Sure, you were grateful that he let you use a plane when others had to drive, but the location of the assignment he gave...

Let's just say you weren't too impressed.

And now, as your own gaze dances over the snowy Canadian landscape beneath you, you can't help but groan internally.

First, I'm stuck with Bucky. Again.

Second, we're given an assignment in the middle of nowhere!

And third, that particular nowhere just has to be freezing cold! Why wouldn't it be?

You sigh, leaning back in your seat as you prop your feet up onto the top of the control console, stifling back a yawn.

"Are you tired or something?" The man sitting beside you muses aloud, a light teasing to his tone as he motions to your laissez-faire seating position.

"No," You mutter hastily, returning your feet back to the floor plate beneath you, sitting up straight once more. "Not at all."

Bucky just chuckles, clearly not believing a single word you're saying.

"Being tired isn't something to be ashamed of," He jokes before lowering his tone slightly, filling with a sound of understanding and compassion. "Go get some rest. I'll be fine up here."

"I'm fine, Barnes."

"Just go."

"I'm not-"

However, as ironic as it is, the yawn you'd stifled earlier decides to make an appearance, much larger and unavoidable than before, interrupting your sentence and proving your Partner's point.

Sighing, you turn your head to meet his gaze, an expression of 'I told you so,' written across his features.

"Fine," You huff, sliding out of your seat in the cockpit and heading into the rear of the plane, towards the makeshift bunks the Team had thrown together for past missions.

You spread out on the uncomfortable mattress, using your hands as a pillow, and before you know it, a light slumber manages to cascade over you and darkness sweeps over your senses.

Back in the cockpit, Bucky turns from the whitewashed landscape before him, turning his attention to your now sleeping form, a calm and pleasant look resting still on your features.

"She didn't even bother to grab a blanket," He chuckles to himself, quietly leaving his own seat behind to head towards you, grabbing the lightweight piece of fabric on his way past.

Nearing your sleeping form, a soft smile tugs at his lips as he carefully lays the blanket over you before hastily heading back the way he had came, not wanting to have you awake to him lingering beside you.
