The sound of distant thunder and a heavy rain pittering against the windows in the large common area of the Avengers Complex settles you.

It had been some time since a good storm had naturally occurred in upstate New York so as of now, you're simply enjoying the small things.

Including the fact that you're just about to sit down and watch a movie with your three best friends.

Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson.

All who of which are currently rummaging around the kitchen like mad-men, each of them looking for something to eat.

"Wilson, would you just shove off?" Bucky sighs heavily, shoving the man reaching in front of him to get to a cabinet beside where the ex-assassin is standing, evidently unimpressed.

"C'mon man, I'm just trying to get some popcorn kernels and you just happen to be in the way!"

Exchanging a humoured glance with Steve, who is standing in the opposite side of the small kitchen area, filling up a glass of water, you can't help but allows goofy grin to play at the edges of your lips.

"You guys have less than five minutes to get your butts over here," You inform loudly with a teasing tone, causing the pair still arguing over popcorn kernels to become even more agitated.

"Would you just hurry up already?" Sam exclaims, clearly exasperated while Bucky just smirks, meeting your watching gaze.

"Alright, fine, fine," He chuckles, pushing himself away from the counter he'd been leaning against previously as he saunters towards the couch where you and Steve are already seated.

"You joining us, Sam?" The blond sitting on your left calls over his shoulder as Bucky takes a seat on your right, casually slinging his prosthetic arm behind your shoulders on the back of the cushions.

"Give me about..." He pauses momentarily as the sound of many objects bouncing off the tiled floor reaches you, followed by a frustrated groan. "20 minutes to clean this up, now."

The three of you already seated just grin at one another, shaking your heads.

"I'll go help him clean up the kernels he was so adamant he get," Steve laughs softly, leaving the couch behind and heading into the kitchen. "You two go ahead. I have a feeling we'll be awhile."

And, it certainly was quite some time.

So long, actually, that neither of your two other friends even bothered to come back and join the pair of you enamoured by the film on the screen.

You'd decided to pick a decently scary, borderline horror, movie and let's just say...

That wasn't your brightest idea.

Between the darkness around you, the rain wrapping against the windows and the occasional boom of thunder - the atmosphere surrounding you began to make you uneasy.

And now, as yet another frightening looking creature leaps out from where it had been hiding off-screen, you let out a small yelp of surprise, instinctively burying your head into the side of the man sitting beside you.

"What? Can't handle a small jump-scare, Doll?" Bucky teases softly as you pry yourself away from his solid side, not really wanting to turn your attention back to the TV.

So instead, you let your gaze wander to up to his features, his own blue eyes staring back at you with a playful glimmer in them.

"What?" You protest with a small grin. "I'm jumpy, that's all."
