Actually, the water session with Liam was not planned, since I had waited for Avery at the camp to help her with the laundry. But when Liam arrived before her, everything turned out differently. It had been so warm that Liam had taken off his T-shirt and thrown it into the basket with the dirty laundry. However, wood splinters, sawdust and tree bark were stuck all over his body. Since the washrooms were being cleaned, he decided to wash off all the dirt in the sea. I quickly turned to the laundry, knowing that I would probably have a tomato-red head again as soon as I looked at his naked torso. I heard Liam move away and then a soft splash as he went into the water. I hung up the first basket of laundry and tried with all my might not to imagine how good Liam must have looked. The water running from his hair over his chest and stomach to then....

I mentally slapped myself in the face.

Get a grip on yourself, Daisy Abernathy, I scolded myself.

And yet I couldn't stop myself from peering towards the beach. As he was standing in the shade of the trees, I couldn't see much.

Only the back and back of his head could be seen, as he was surrounded by water up to his shoulders.

I turned away again.

"Daisy?", I heard him call out then.

I didn't dare turn around at that moment and answered hesitantly.

"Yes?"

"Can you get my towel from the tent?"

Inwardly I wanted to bang my head against the nearest wall.

Why did he have to ask me such a question of all things? It took me a few seconds to collect myself before I could answer, "Yeah sure, where in the tent is it exactly?"

"There should be a dark green bag at the wall of the tent. It's probably in one of the two side pockets."

"Okay."

Normally, no one went into the tent of the opposite sex. We all respected each other's privacy. However, no one else was in the boys' tent at the moment, so I entered cautiously. Since the yurts were made of completely black fabric, it was almost completely dark in the tent. Only a gap at the top of the tent ceiling, where fire foil had been placed around the pole, let in a little light. The tent was in complete chaos. Typical boys, I thought with a smile. It was more or less possible to separate the individual sleeping places from each other, but it seemed rather unlikely to find anything in all this. Nevertheless, I found the bag and fished out a clean towel from the right side pocket. As I walked to the shore to bring it to Liam, I was surprised to find that Liam was nowhere to be seen. The surface of the water lay still and smooth, like a mirror. Confused, I walked closer to the water. I had just heard him in the water. Where did he go now?

Uncertainly, I took off my shoes and socks, put the towel next to it and took a few steps into the water. Inwardly I gave myself credit for only wearing shorts today.

"Liam?"

I went a little deeper into the water. The water was already up to my calves.

I was starting to get a little scared. What if maybe he had slipped and hit his head under the water?

"Liam?", I called out again, this time clearly more frightened and louder.

And suddenly something jumped out of the water right in front of me. Startled, I stumbled backwards, slipped and landed on the bottom. Liam was standing in front of me, laughing and brushing the water off his face.

At first I was relieved that he had obviously only been joking and that nothing bad had happened to him. However, this was followed by a certain amount of annoyance that he was amusing himself because of my fear.
