"Amsterdam Zuid Police Station, how can I help you?"
"Hello, my name is Eva Askamp. I need a patrol car at ****** street no. 32, please."
"What happened, Miss Askamp?"
"My friend Avery has been missing for a week and her aunt won't let me in. I think she has something to do with it."
"Slow down, Mrs Askamp. Let's go in order."
"My friend Avery, she hasn't shown up for school in a week and she's living with her aunt right now because her parents are on holiday and her aunt won't let me in."
"And now you think something's happened to your friend?"
"Well, she's stopped answering her phone and is completely unavailable and her aunt won't let me see her and keeps saying Avery is sick, but she hasn't called in sick at all! And that's not like her!"
"So are there any reasons why your friend might be in danger?"
"I just got off the phone with Avery's parents and her mother told me that if her aunt refused me entry to her flat again, I should call the police."
"You spoke to the parents? Where are her parents now?"
"They're on their way home, they were on holiday together."
"Okay, have they ever left Avery with her Aunt before?"
"No, not until now. This was the first time and Avery told me a few days before that her aunt was acting strange."
"Strange in what way? Did her aunt threaten her? Or beat her?"
"No, but I heard she kept having meltdowns and I think she locked Avery up and now she wouldn't let me in to see Avery either."
"So you don't know if your friend is okay?"
"No, and her mother sounded pretty worried too. She told me if her sister wouldn't let me see Avery to call you right away and have the place searched.I think she thinks Lucy might have done something to her!"
"Okay, we'll send someone over."

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Tonight's program will look at a serious and tragic car accident that took the lives of a family of three. But before that, the police have given us a recent missing person's report, which we will read out beforehand. 15-year-old Avery Collins has been missing for presumably 27 June 2010. The girl currently lives in Amsterdam Zuid and had been staying with her aunt Lucy Gilbertson since 18 June 2010, since her parents had gone on a holiday. However, a friend of Avery's reported that she had not been to school since 25 June 2010 and that her aunt would not give her any information about Avery's whereabouts. When Miss Gilbertson's house was searched, it was discovered that Avery hadn't been there for several days. Now police are searching for the girl and are asking for your help. Avery Collins is 5.4 feet tall, has shoulder length black hair and brown eyes and is believed to have been last seen wearing a dark red jacket and blue jeans. Please give any information to the local police station in Amsterdam.

After four days of searching, 15-year-old Avery is still missing. According to new information from the police, the girl had already disappeared from her aunt Lucy Gilbertson's house since 29 June 2010. It remains unclear whether the girl ran away herself or whether a crime has been committed. Interviews with her fellow students revealed that Avery Collins was last seen by her classmates on 25 June 2010 during an hour of detention with her teacher L. Peters. She didn't show up for class the following Monday, but didn't call in sick either. Friends of hers (E. Askamp and C. Hensken) tried to reach her several times by phone and also turned up at her aunt's house a few times to ask for her, but were refused entry. The parents (Diane and Mark Collins) were on holiday in northern Germany at the time, which is why they didn't notice anything at first. When one of the friends called the parents because Avery had not been to school all week and was not available, the police were informed. The suspicion that Lucy Gilbertson had done something to the girl has not been confirmed yet. Lucy Gilbertson herself only stated that she had suffered a memory loss and does not know what happened to Avery. The police are still searching for 15-year-old Avery and are asking for help.

In an interview with Avery's parents, they asked for help in finding their daughter who has now been missing for 6 days. Avery's mother is still hopeful that her daughter could still be alive, although the chances are getting slimmer with each passing day.
"We were supposed to be back on July 9 to celebrate her birthday in a few days. Now we've come back earlier and she's not there. Tomorrow she turns 16 and I just hope she will be able to have her 16th birthday. And that we will find her by then. I'm not giving up hope that she's still alive. As long as I don't hear anything else, we believe she is still alive."
When asked what they would like to say to their daughter should she listen, they both testified, "Avery, wherever you are, if you see this, please do come to us or tell us where you are. We have made a terrible mistake and we are sorry. We know you must have some questions about Lucy and we will explain everything too. Just please, if you can, come home."
We are all praying for the parents that they will get their wish and that Avery will turn up to celebrate her 16th birthday with her parents.
Maybe some of you can already guess what I have hinted at in chapter 15. If not, you will find out. From now on I won't be able to write as much, because I'm in Wetzlar part-time and do my 6-month internship there. I'll try to upload chapters once a week for now, but I can't promise anything.
See you then, liz;)
