Since the incident in the washroom, I had been avoiding Liam. At the moment that worked quite well, because he was still in the infirmary. But tomorrow he would come back and sooner or later he would certainly talk to me about it.

Probably he would be very kind and gentle to me, but still break my heart. But after the way I had behaved, maybe I deserved it.

Ever since I had escaped from the washroom, I had been seriously wondering what the hell had gotten into me kissing Liam Payne just like that. Where had I gotten the courage to do that in the first place?

The fact that I had acted so strangely about Liam at Avery's birthday party had certainly not escaped the attention of the others, because I had clearly seen the confusion in Avery's face.

Surely she would approach me again about it. But still, I was glad to postpone my inevitable meeting with Liam for another day.

The run-in with Avery, however, was unavoidable. After we got ready for bed, she approached me in the washrooms.

"Okay, what's going on? What did I miss?" she asked with raised eyebrows as I washed my face next to her at the sink.

"Uh, nothing, why?", I said, trying to look as good as innocent.

"Cards on the tables, Abernathy! You're not just going to pass up a chance to be alone with Liam. Something happened between you two, am I right?" she grinned with a knowing smile.

"Uh...no?", I stammered, but my voice alone gave away that I was lying.

Avery grinned even wider and gave me a prompting look.

"Well, come on, tell me what happened between you two. It must have been pretty awkward if you're even avoiding him."

I shook my head.

"I won't tell anyone either. Pinky swear," she promised me seriously.

"I don't...I don't know. It's all just so..."

"Daisy, I promise. Honestly," any joking or mischievousness was gone from her face.

There was only a gentle, honest smile left. She held out her pinky finger to me. I hesitated for a moment, then hooked my pinky with hers and returned her smile.

"So, what happened?" she then asked.

"I kissed Liam," I told her with a sigh.

Surprised, Avery looked at me.

"You what?!" she repeated in surprise.

"You kissed Liam? Well that' s awesome!" she then said with a bright smile.

"No, that's just not awesome! I completely blindsided him with the kiss and then just ran away from him! And now I'm afraid of what he'll say when I see him again!", I said in exasperation.

Confused, Avery looked at me. You could tell that she didn't quite understand what was going on.

"You'll have to explain that in more detail," she said puzzled.

I told her about the incident in the washroom.

Avery looked at me with wide eyes.

"Wow, that was obviously pretty..."

"...Stupid, I know," I interrupted her, sighing.

"So what did Liam actually say to you after the kiss?" she then asked.

"Nothing at all, I left before he had a chance to break my heart. Which I actually deserved," I mumbled embarrassed.

"I think you're being too hard on yourself. Maybe he thought it was really great and you just didn't give him a chance to tell you. Besides, if anyone deserves to be happy, it's probably you. I mean, you're always so positive, even though it really sucks here," Avery tried to cheer me up.
