I look at him after he said that.

My heart sinks a little. The whole conversations he keeps bringing up about the other getting a boyfriend or girlfriend comes to mind. Is that just void now? Is he going to ask some girl to be his valentine and will they end up getting into a relationship? I-

His chuckle snaps me out of thought and makes me look up at him.
'Well Don't looks so down.' He says as he smiles softly at me. 'Are you going to ask someone to be your valentine?' I ask to confirm my thoughts. He nods before finally taking a bite of his dinner. I let out a breath before continuing to eat. So him randomly saying I should become his girlfriend really were nothing more then jokes.

'What about you?'

I sigh and look up at him 'thought you didn't want me to bring over a guy?' I ask. He looks at my eyes for a second, switching between them before looking away and letting out a breathy laugh. 'I did say that.' He says. 'So I didn't look. I wanted to pretend valentine didn't exist this year.' I say. He raises his eyebrow as he look at me. 'I may visit Nick tomorrow, so I guess I could say he's kind of my Valentine.' I say. 'No way.' Clay says.

I look at him in confusion. 'What no? Am I not allowed so see my best friend?' I ask.

'No.'

I look at him in disbelief. 'Really, that's just rude.' I tell him

'I don't want you too because I wanted to ask you something first.'

I look at him, waiting for him to ask whatever it is he wants to ask.
Is it if I can leave the house tomorrow so he can let his "valentine" come over?
I bet that's it.

'Will you be my valentine, Amelia?'

Everything freezes. My face stays as it is, and my thoughts stop.
Nothing besides.

'What?'

The question leaves my lips with a blank sound to it.

He stops waiting for an answer and looks away.
'Alright that was weird of me. Sorry, never mind that.'

He is about to get up.

'Wait.'
He looks at me as he's already half standing.
'Did you mean what you asked?' I ask.

My emotions can't fit into the right places, but....
I don't know.

'Why else would I ask?' He says as he now stand up fully.
'Well you do joke about me becoming your girlfriend.' I tell him.
He looks at me as his face drops a little.

'Right.'

He leaves the room, taking his plate with him up the stairs.
What the hell is going on?
