Adam's POV-
From seeing what happened with Cory, I'm even more nervous about these trials. They seem to be testing us far more than I could have anticipated. It seems to latch onto our worst fears and insecurities, holding them at our necks until we're left with nothing else. These last few years, with all of us together, have had their benefits and doubts. In terms of benefits, we all have eachother, and our lives here have been far better than we could have ever hoped for. Some of us escaped from terrible relationships, others have witnessed the world crumble firsthand, and the rest have seen more than they ever could have. I had done nothing but protect who I could before I arrived here, nothing more than a guard for a kingdom. Now, I mean far more than that, both to my friends and all those people who are tormented by the sins of the past and fallen. Hope has been the only thing I have had with me for many years, in myself, in my people, in my friends. The world may end any minute, it's the depressing truth, however, we don't have to welcome that end with open arms. Here and now, we have been given the opportunity to fight for what we believe in, as well as for each other. My words may mean nothing to those who have never known me or my story, but I will bleed for those I care about until nothing remains.
Norman's POV-
Alas, I have been given the chance to see what we have. "Hello, my friends! I am Norman of Hope, one of the ten Forbidden Holders." I greeted them with, as they seemed wary. "I'm next, aren't I?" Adam asked. Clever boy. He could sense his purpose from a mile away. "Wonderful! You pay great attention, dear boy! Yes, it is your turn." He holds out for whatever he wants to happen and hopes for survival. He holds out for everyone he believes in, almost to a fault, yet, that is why he is so interesting. All he has ever done, ever since he was born, was fight for the people that he believed in. The only difference is, that now, he holds more than just a sword. He holds the whole world in his hands, a delicate crystal ball that would shatter at a slight fall. That is why we exist, both the Forbidden Holders and the Elementals. Our singular purpose is to push back against any pull from evil intent, to keep the world from shattering. We had known to pick him as an Elemental for a long time, as he was well qualified before he had even arrived here. I have hope in him as well, that he will hold out through this task. He has stood up for his friends and bystanders before, so I believe him to be the type that would continue that purpose for as long as he could.
Third Person POV-
Here he was, surrounded by his own void, surrounded by nothing. He began to walk, his sword trailing the ground behind him. He knew what this place was, but had never entered it before. It was a graveyard, twisted and burned by time. A reminder that he had failed them. He walked silently, looking upon the remains of many that had once lived in the kingdom. He knew so many of them. What could he had done for them? He could have done so much more, but now, there is no way to fix what is broken. A chilling wind seemed to blow straight through him. Was it a ghost? Fear? Disappointment? It didn't matter, all it could be was a reminder of the past mistakes. The scenery seemed to close in around him, beckoning him into it's hallowed walls. What was their to fight against besides himself? He needed to look closer, find meaning within the place before him. Why choose this place to torment him, out of any place? As a knight, he has seen many things, not many of them good, but why choose this? Every one of these trials is here for a reason, to prove they can fight against the very people suppressing the weak and innocent. There must be a reason that this fear is the one being used to hold him down.
Adam's POV-
I picked up my sword and pointed it in front of me. I understand now. This place isn't only trying to torment me with my mistakes before becoming an Elemental. The graveyard is trying to tell me something. Cory's trial showed him to trust in us, that he wasn't alone with his pain, but what is this place to me? It's simple, I should have understood it earlier. This graveyard is their work, the work of the Masterminds, who have hurt so many innocent people. All of this damage that has been done is due to their ideals and actions. I didn't fail them by trying to save them, the Masterminds failed by hurting them in the first place. We may never be able to change the Masterminds back into decent people, but we can protect the decent people that still live to this day, no matter how much blood had been spilt. The scenery shifted, as now it spawned the souls of those who sleep within it. All of us, together have one goal: To defeat the Masterminds, once and for all. This time, I will not fail them, nor will I fail my friends. My job is to be strong for the people that need me, not waver at the first sign of failure. I have fought this long to rid the world of all evil intent, and I will not stop now. The void faded around me. I have returned to my friends, those who will fight along side me to obtain peace across the world, like we had invited ourselves to do years ago.
