Just a quick note before this chapter begins!
You may notice a shift in my writing style. This is because I have changed as a writer since posting the previous chapter, and I am also planning on rewriting my stories, starting with my oldest ones. I hope you enjoy the last few chapters, and have a lovely day!

Tensions were high between the group when they returned to the cabin. They now had some downtime, but how long would it last? There was a fight up ahead, everyone knew that much. Who could they lose? Even worse, if they did lose someone, how would they take it?
Shelby was twirling her necklace in her hands, glancing between everyone else in the living room. Meanwhile, Charloette was still with them. Katrina kept her distance, but she could tell that she missed her, even if she was still frustrated about the past. As much as she tried to hide it, her emotions had become more visible to the group over time. She had seemed so odd when Shelby first met her, but now she saw her in a completely different way. As no one else wanted to, Charloette chose to break the silence.
"You all are luckier than you might think. You all have fought very bravely since you have arrived here, coming out of every situation together."
Shelby could see the aggression brewing within Max, but before she had time to stop him, he stood up.
"What do you mean?! We are not 'luckier!' Multiple of us here have had horrible family lives before arriving, others have nearly died on multiple occasions! We have been putting our lives on the line, when people as powerful as you could have interfered at anytime! That is not 'lucky,' it is stupidly unfair!"
Max looked like he was about to keep yelling, potentially walking towards her, but Ross gripped his hand and looked up at him with worry. Seeing his expression, he took a deep breath and sat back down without a word.
"I understand your anger, Max. Trust me, I wish it were that simple. However, when the Forbidden Holders formed, we agreed on multiple rules. One of those rules was to never directly interfere with the world. We are not allowed to influence situations of this magnitude. That is why the Elementals were created."
The others looked back at her with confusion, except for Katrina, who seemed to be lost in thought. Her eyes widened like something had clicked in her head.
"I get it. The Elementals were created because we can interfere with the Masterminds, but the Forbidden Holders cannot. Your group is allowed to create things for our world, but you cannot alter the course of events. We are your way of getting indirectly involved without breaking the rule."
Shelby looked back at her friend, who gave her a bright smile in return. It was nice to see her happy again, especially after all of the recent events.
Cory, who had just been observing from a corner of the room suddenly moved over. Everyone else flinched in surprise except for Shelby, Katrina, and Charloette.
"You mentioned that we were lucky, Charloette. What exactly did you mean by that?"
Charloette, who had been stoic the entire conversation, seemed to let emotion slip through for the first time. Her eyes darted away from them with guilt, and she began to nervously twirl her hair like Katrina had done sometimes. Shelby was already nervous about the fight ahead, but the all-knowing Goddess of their world's reaction made her feel ten times worse.
"You have not had to face their wrath, but maybe you will one day. The Corrupted Masters are the leaders of the Masterminds, and have been directing their every move since they were formed. I know the relations you all have had with them. Trust me, their leaders are even worse. Unlike the Masterminds, each of them have unique powers which are twisted forms of our magic. They may even be on equal footing to the Forbidden Holders."
No one in the room was taking this information well. The color seemed to drain on the face of every girl in the room, especially Shelby and Katrina. It made her think back on what Katrina had dreamed, the horrible fate both of them could meet. Meanwhile, the boys were stuck in a stunned silence, and Ross was also shaking slightly. They had already suffered greatly at the hands of the Masterminds, but here was a worse group, one with powers potential equal to the creators of their world. They would have to fight them, and things would go horribly if they did not win.
Almost as if he could read her thoughts, Cory came up to her and put an arm around her. Blushing slightly, she buried her face in his arm, allowing herself to forget her worries for just a moment.
When she looked back, Adam had moved to the center of the room in speaking view of each of them. Charloette looked at him knowingly, nodding her head.
"Inspire them child, like a true knight would."
"I know all of us are terrified at what is to come, but we have all learned so much since before we came here. Before we received our powers, each of us were alone in a hateful world, some suffering more than others. We could never see ourselves as anything more than an average person. But look at us now! We have magic, we have defeated the Masterminds multiple times, even when they used our minds against each other. I believe in the strength of us all, especially now that we have trained together for so long. So, let's prepare for a fight and save the world!"
As the Elementals cheered, Charloette looked back at them with a smile. She was going to leave, as she had to. By the time their cheering had settled down, she was gone.
Shelby looked back at Katrina once more, knowing exactly what was on her mind. This may be their last good memory with everyone. Either of them could be dead soon, and there was no way to know until the end.
In the corridor outside of the living room, both girls hugged each other tightly, hoping the other would be there when the fight was over.
