Stephanie's POV-
I honestly don't understand why we are still even letting this happen to them. It doesn't feel smart, or safe for that matter. We luckily are at least almost done with this. Two pair-ups to go! I checked the pairing board to see who was fighting next. Wait, wait wait, it's those two?! I feel like the battle is already determined, but hey, I guess we will have to see what happens now. "Ross, Cory, you two are fighting next." I stated, informing them both. Just by looking, I could tell Ross was nervous to fight him, which makes a lot of sense if I think about it. Cory isn't really worried, but he is definitely on guard, expecting anything to happen. If anyone is fast on their toes in this group, it would be him and Max. An interesting battle is about to unfold this very moment.

Ross's POV-
Me?! Man, I don't think I'm really ready for this kind of battle right now... but... I still have to try! Everyone else did it, so I have to as well! I rose the ground to create a higher point for me to aim, and raised a few boulders as well. Cory summoned his scythe and seemed to be processing what to do against me! I broke apart the rocks into small sphere and started to make them rain down towards the ground. He seemed to have calculated what to do, and, like in slow motion, he fluidly blocked every single rock with the scythe, with one just barely missing him. How did he do that so quick? It probably has to do with his family being thief's. You have to be pretty quick to snatch things without any catching on to what you are doing wrong. I shot down more rocks to try and hit him with, in return, black flames received the pebbles, spraying them into a cloud of dust. How am I supposed to know where he'll appear now? That's it, I've had enough of this! A familiar black scythe was thrown at me, obviously intended to render me defenseless. Automatically without any thought, I caught the scythe in my hand, froze it, and snapped it in half. It felt as if all emotions I would normally have dissapeared, leaving a blank state to fall back on. The whole group looked at me in shock. I kept trying to regain myself, but I was acting without caution. I was about to strike him down! What am I supposed to do to stop myself!? Like a flash of light, someone melted the ice shards that would have struck him to the ground. It was the face of someone all too familiar. Shelby had stepped in to help. "I appreciate the save. " Cory said, thanking her. "I'm glad to help, but talking won't save him." She replied, both focusing their attention back to me. A blinding flash of light hit my eyes, and the surroundings I could see afterwards seemed to have dimmed. Then, someone gripped my hand, almost in a reassuring manner. With that, I was finally able to regain control over my form before things got too drastic. "Thanks Shelby." I stated, hugging her. "No problem, just glad to see your okay." She quietly said as she hugged back. Everyone else chose to stay quiet during that, except one person who couldn't keep quiet. "That was so pure! Cousin bonding for the win!" Kitty squealed, as everyone looked at her. She quickly went back to being quiet, trying to not let her fangirling overcome her once again.
