Chapter 4 - Part 8 - Trial

Joseph Gulls:

 "What the-"

Anna Bones:

 "Well, you're alibi can't be confirmed and we know Selina is innocent because she found the body."

Joseph Gulls:

 "But we don't know that the killer is an infected!"

 Katherine Lisle:

 "B-But the killer would need time to grab the anaesthetic! If somebody did it during the day, Nico would see them. And at night, Thomas would."

Selina Blithers:

 "That's wrong."

 Katherine Lisle:

 "H-Huh?!"

Selina Blithers:

 "Nico took us to the game room yesterday. So the killer had a chance to grab the anaesthetic. And you wanna know something I realised?

 ...Nico left the game room at one point."

 The court room went silent. But then there was a yell from Milo

Milo Plains:

 "Oi, Nico wouldn't do it! And even if he did, he wouldn't try frame me!

Selina Blithers:

"Milo, you were there too. Nico left the room for like five minutes. That's enough time to go to the nurse's office and grab the syringe. And nobody from the other group said they saw him. So, by that lo-"

Nico Ular:

 "I HAVE AN ALIBI!"

 ...shit

Now I've done it. The most alibi I have is talking to Mary and there's no way she'll say something.

I'm done for... What do I do... What do I do what do I do what do I-

Mary Kimly:

 "I was talking to him."

...huh?

Mary Kimly:

 "There was a book stolen from the library. I thought it might've been Nico so I talked to him about it. So there. That's his alibi." 

I mouthed thank you to Mary and then nodded

Nico Ular:

 "There... That's my alibi."

Selina Blithers:

 "...very well then."

Anna Bones:

 "Huh... Well back to Joseph!"

 Joseph Gulls:

 "It's not me! 

Anna Bones:

"You have nothing in your defence!"

 Joseph Gulls:

 "I-I had no motive!"

Katherine Lisle:

 "You... You had a violence disease! You probably killed just for the heck of it!" 

Nico Ular:

 "Guys! We're all being too forward! We need to go through the suspects and figure this out through process of elimination!"

Anna Bones:

 "...fine. I suppose Mr Gulls is in the clear for now..."

Nico Ular:

 "For now, our suspects are Lydia, Katherine and Mathew."

 Katherine Lisle:

 "You're not 100% in the clear either! You had the most chances out of all of us to grab the anaesthetic!"

 Nico Ular:

 "Um... Ok?"

 Milo Plains:

 "...it's not Nico."

 Anna Bones:

 "Ooooh?"

 Milo Plains:

 "Nico... Wouldn't. I just know he wouldn't."

 Mary Kimly:

 "Keep telling yourself that..."

This was killing me. Milo trusted me and it felt wrong... How the hell do other traitors not get swallowed by the guilt?!

Nico Ular:

 "Um... While I appreciate that Milo... Let's just keep me on the suspect list for now."

Brooke Quillet:

 "So... Should we discuss motives? Cos there kinda... Wasn't one..."

Mathew Kimly:

 "She has a point. The only reason someone would kill would be to protect others from the disease, but in that case why Thomas? And why use such a tricky method? The killer would need to have a personal motive."

 Selina Blithers:

 "Personal motive... Ah, I see."

 Selina hesitated, then looked directly at Katherine

Selina Blithers:

 "...you're the only one with a personal motive."
