Chapter 2 - Part 5 - Daily Life

It was time for the party

As I headed there, I checked on Ivy. She was keeping watch of the light box which was just outside the main hall. It was a grey box with a large red button on the front. There wasn't even any kind of protective glass. 

Ivy rolled her eyes when she saw me "I'm gonna be fine snake freak. Besides, standing out here probably weakens my chances of dying. If you really wanna check on somebody, check on scarf kid and traitor."

I could only assume she meant Milo and Selina, so I headed into the Nurse's Office. 

I looked at Milo and he immediately said "She's out cold. She got all dizzy... People wake up from that right?" I nodded. The place looked different from the last time I came, as if somebody had looked around and put a few things in the wrong place. Although Milo trying to snap a needle explained that "Milo! You could hurt yourself!" I said, taking the needle out his hand. Milo held onto his scarf tightly and mumbled "I'm trying to destroy any weapons! There's a reason I'm not coming to the party, and that reason is that parties are a recipe for disaster!"

I understood Milo's worry. I didn't know a lot about these games since our mother told us they weren't real, but I've heard brief mentions and parties seem to come up every now and then. 

 "Hey, it's gonna be perfectly safe." I told him. Milo looked away "No, it's not. Everyone knows it's not. I don't even know why we're having this conversation. I'm not coming, end of story." I sighed "That's fine. Just be safe." 

I headed to the party on my own. Everyone else was already there and talking, eating, and other things. Lydia noticed me first "Nico! Nico's here!" She came up to me and smiled. I don't know what it was, but despite the fact Lukas was one of my brother's murderers I couldn't find myself hating Lydia. She then passed me a cup "There's an ice machine in the back! I've had like 10 cups of it and now I can't feel my brain!"

Now I see why. All that anger is pushed out by concern for Lydia's life choices. 

I went to go talk to somebody else, but while I was walking around I heard a conversation. 

 "Look I don't know why I have this note but does it really matter?"

 "Somebody sent you that note with the intent of murder. If you don't go the murder attempts will continue. But, if somebody else goes-"

 "Don't even think about it! You're not dying for me, forget it!"

I was unable to tell who was speaking, but it sounded serious. I was going to try to find them and help, but then saw Mathew sitting on his own. He looked guilty which was understandable. I say with him "Hey, you ok?" I asked. 

He shook his head "I acted like a complete idiot... Is Selina ok?" I nodded. He sighed "I was just really annoyed and confused about what happened to Mary. You understand that right? I mean, did she really just turn to the mastermind's side without a moment's hesitation? Or is she brainwashed? Who knows... I just want her to be ok."

I put an arm around Mathew "It's alright. I probably would've done the same if it was my brother... I didn't know Mary personally but I'm sure there's a good explanation for this." He smiled at this. We sat together in silence for a bit...

Then, the room went completely dark

Everyone's fear and panic overlapped and nobody could see a thing

I felt somebody grab onto my arm but I was too worried to think anything of it. There was a couple more minutes worry, then the lights came on. 

The person holding onto my arm was Joseph. He seemed surprised that it was me he was holding onto. I then saw Milo standing at the doorway. "The lights went out in the Nurse's Office too. Nico, we should go check on Ivy." I nodded and headed out the room with Milo. 

We quickly made our way to Ivy, and we saw her on the floor. 

 "What happened?!" I asked, helping her up. She scoffed "Some idiot pushed me into the button when I wasn't paying attention and my head hit off of it and made the lights go out!" 

Milo looked at the button then looked at Ivy "Did you see who your attacker was?" He asked. Ivy shook her head. "Nope. I have no idea who attacked me. But I think I saw them go that way." She pointed in the direction of the library. 

Then, as if on que, Joseph ran out the dining hall and started heading to the library. Ivy looked surprised "Huh? What's he doing here?" Milo looked at him "I don't know... come on Nico last follow him."

We made our way to the library and once we got there, I realised that Milo was right about parties being a recipe for disaster...

Liam Wids, The Ultimate Actor, was dead

A body discovery announcement played, this time with Mary's voice instead of Sarah's.

Joseph was stood still in front of the body. He was looking at it with misery. "Liam... I'm so sorry.." He quietly muttered

There was another murder

And this one felt like it was going to be complicated
