Rose was standing in the middle of the road, waiting for a car to hit her and end her misery. All of a sudden, a car knocked her down and the owner of the vehicle alighted from the car to check who he had accidentally hit. He took her in his car and drove to a hospital. When the doctor examined her he led Erasmus to his office, he was the owner of the car.
"It's good you brought her as soon as possible, there are no serious injuries whatsoever but I'm sorry to tell you that because of the fall, she hit her head and wont be able to remember anything for sometime, I'm really sorry... For how long doctor?... it could be days, weeks, months... I get it, thank you doctor. Can I see her now?... Yes you can but please make sure she has enough rest, if she keeps on making progress, I will discharge her by tomorrow. You have to take it easy with her and make sure she takes her drugs...that won't be a problem at all".
Rose was sitting up on the bed fully awake when Erasmus came in, he waved at her
"Hello, how are you feeling?... I feel pains all over my body...that's my fault, I'm sorry I knocked you down, please forgive me...you knocked me down?... yes but it wasn't my intention...I don't remember anything not even my name... due to the impact of the accident, the doctor said you have amnesia".
She sat there thinking for sometime before speaking
"Where I'm I going to live since I don't remember anything about myself... I'm taking you to live with me for the time being until you recover fully, are you okay with that?...I don't see any other options, but won't your family object, I mean your wife... don't you worry, I live alone, my parents are not in the country... oh ok, thank you very much... I should be the one thanking you for not reporting me to the police... why would I?, you could have left me there to die but you brought me here. When can we leave?...hopefully by tomorrow... good, I don't want to stay here a minute longer. I didn't even ask your name...Erasmus and yours?...I can't seem to remember...okay then, I will call you angel till you remember everything...why that name?...well, because you are as beautiful as one... really, I don't think I am that beautiful...of course you are".
When Erasmus left the hospital, he went to shop for some clothes for her and when he got home, he prepared the adjoining bedroom. He laid the bed with a pink bedspread and the windows with turquoise blue curtains then he hanged an air freshener on the wall to give the room a homey feel. He couldn't go to sleep, all he did was to think about Angel and how to make her feel at home till he slept off.
