Part 34 - Making Amends

"Thank you Pastor, for agreeing to see me on such short notice...you're welcome son. What brings you to my office this early?... Sir please I would like to discuss something with you...okay, go ahead...it's about Sis.Rose...is she okay?, is everything okay with her?...yes please, everything's okay...okay?...The thing is, I would like to ask for her hand in marriage on the day of the Love Fest but I wanted your permission and your blessing...okay_wow I'm amazed, I saw this coming but didn't really expect it now...but please if you think now isn't the right time to ask, I could wait...no no no, far from it, the Love Fest is the perfect time, it's a festival of love and apart from us celebrating the Love of God towards us and the love we have for him in return and our fellow brothers and sisters, this is also important and you're doing things the right way, you have my permission...thank you so much Pastor, this means a lot to me...my pleasure, I'm guessing Rose isn't aware of the proposal right...yes Sir, it's a surprise...hahaha okay, that's alright but do you think she's on the same page with you with regards to spending the rest of your lives together, fulfilling God's purpose?...yes Sir, I spoke to her, not in clear words though but I'm certain because I received confirmation from the Holy Spirit concerning this...that's great. Alright, I have an online meeting to get to in some few minutes...yes please, I'll take my leave now. Thank you Sir for having me...you're welcome and all the best...Thank you" Kirk went to see Pastor Dan early on Wednesday morning, in the hope of seeing him before he begun his numerous meetings for the day and fortunately for him, he was available.

Kirk couldn't have been any happier when Pastor Dan gave him his blessing, all he needed to do was get ready for the day and hope Rose says 'yes'. He went to work and headed straight to his office, he didn't expect to see anyone there and more so, whoever it was, sitting on his chair

"You're late...I had some things to take care of...okay...what brings you to my office, Erasmus?...I know this may come as a surprise to you but I came to apologise for my behaviour towards you. I know I haven't treated you well even before I felt you had come between Rose and I, I just didn't like your guts when you spoke and how you did your stuff, you never joined the guys at the office for Friday night outs or any games we organised_silly reasons, I know, but I've realised my mistake and I'm sorry..." Kirk stood there for quite a while looking at him, this time Erasmus was standing as well

"Aren't you gonna say anything?...I'm sorry, I was just taken by surprise. Can I ask you a question?...yes go ahead...why the sudden change?...after the way I treated Rose and when she became angry, which was totally normal, I behaved like a jerk, I realised apart from work and my quest to have Rose, I had nothing else to live for, something spoke to me and I decided to rededicate my life to Christ...Oh God, this is the power of the Holy Ghost at work, thank you Jesus...I want to know him more so I decided to fellowship at your church...that would be amazing, you're welcome to join us anytime...have you forgiven me?...there's really nothing to forgive...thank you_ really_thank you...we have midweek service today and if it's not too much, I would like to invite you...sure, I would love to go...great, you may have to go from work to avoid the traffic...no problem, but there's one more thing...what?...there's one more person I owe an apology...oo ok, I'm assuming that's Rose?...yes...don't worry, she has a good heart, I'm sure she has already forgiven you...I hope so...okay let's get to work before the boss sees us chit chatting...sure, thank you for forgiving me...don't mention, when it's time for service, I'll alert you so we could go together...okay but I may have to follow your car because I brought mine...that's fine, have a blessed day...you too".

Few hours later

After close of work, Erasmus followed Kirk's car with his, as they agreed and they made it to church in one peace. Rose on the other hand left for a meeting so she went to church from where the meeting was held. The message as usual was inspiring and it addressed many of the issues of the brethren. Pastor Dan taught briefly on Heaven on Earth, where he explained that Jesus brought as much heaven to this earth as the people of the world could contain, he brought a life that was from heaven to earth as much as the rules allowed. John 8:23 says (Jesus continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not)NLT. In the same way a christian is not just another man, a christian is someone who is born again, who has been translated by that birth into the kingdom of God and who lives now in heaven, in the earth. A christian is one with as much heaven as he/she can carry. He also shared from Philippians 3:20 the NLT version which says: (But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior). A christian may be in this earth but is an ambassador of heaven and therefore lives the heavenly life which is the spiritual life here on earth. He said that Christians live in two worlds but the heavenly world should be more real to them than the earthly world.

Erasmus hadn't heard such a message before, he begun to understand why Rose stuck with these folks and he couldn't help but also join them. After service, Kirk introduced Erasmus to some friends of his and when Rose saw them together, she couldn't believe her eyes. They were laughing as if they were the best of friends.

"What's going on here?...Oh Rose, it's good you're here, Erasmus is now a part of us...I don't get you...I mean he's now a member of our ministry, now born again...that's wonderful" Erasmus thought she hated him and therefore didn't expect her calm composure "You're not angry that I'm here?...why would I, when I've prayed for this day, I'm so glad...Rose I owe you an apology, I'm sorry about the way I treated you and the hurtful words I said, please find it in your heart to forgive me...I forgive you, I already did before today...thank you so much...you're welcome and welcome to this big family, you wont regret your decision...thank you, I know I wont".
