Part 24

It's a holiday...Yaay!!!

The ladies woke up to a blasting noise coming from the door, they went to check what was happening and were surprised to see Erasmus and some friends of his singing to some sort of love song, apparently they were serenading her but from the look of things, they were drunk so not in their right frame of mind. Jane burst into fits of laughter and Rose couldn't have been more upset

"What a way to start the holiday huh...come on Rose, it's not that bad, I mean you don't get to be serenaded everyday...Jane please I'm not in the mood for jokes...lighten up, let's just leave them, they'll go when they're tired okay_ come on" she dragged her in and locked the door, they could still hear the 'boys' but their voices quieted down after a while. They decided to have a clean up exercise, not that the house was dirty or anything, they just wanted it to sparkle.

Kirk and Margaret on the other hand were having breakfast when "Kirk...yeah?...I would like to visit Rose and Jane today, since it's a holiday, I'm sure they would be home...Oh ok, that's fine by me but you should inform them that you're coming so that you don't interrupt any plans they might have... yeah you're right, you're coming with me right?...no, I have other things to do...you and I both know you want to go...I have a work assignment to do...and it can't wait?...no please...Kirk_at least give me a ride or would you rather I take a taxi?...I don't like this Maggie, I know what you're trying to do...oh really, and what do you think I'm trying to do?...I wont be able to take you there but I'll order an uber for you...huh fine" she wanted to create an atmosphere for Kirk and Rose to spend time together but her plans were not working, she was thinking of how to get her brother to change his mind when she heard a knock on the door

"Maggie please help me get the door...on it" she went to see who was at the door and behold it was Pearl, Margaret hadn't met her yet since she seemed to have skipped service on Sunday.

"Hello, how may I help you?...hi, I'm looking for Bro.Kirk...okay, is there any problem?...no I just came to see him, who are you?...I'm his sister...Oh wow, nice, I didn't know he had a sister" just then Kirk asked her who was at the door, Pearl literally pushed her way in when she heard his voice. Margaret didn't like her guts but she was yet to find out who this 'Pearl' was to her brother

"Sis.Pearl..." he wasn't expecting her and he really didn't like her being there "Surprise!...I didn't expect to see you here...yes I know, I knew you'd be home considering it's a holiday so I wanted to invite you out" Margaret cleared her throat "Oh_ Sis.Pearl meet Margaret, my sister...yes we already met...Margaret, this is Sis.Pearl, a friend from church" they shook hands and Margaret excused herself and went to call Rose that she was coming over

"So, Sis.Pearl, you said you came to invite me out but I have other plans, I'm sorry...Oh no Bro.Kirk, that's not fair, you've been avoiding me and didn't even check up on me when I wasn't in church yesterday...I'm sorry about that, I figured you travelled for business like you do sometimes...well yeah but you should have still called...I will, next time...Okay, but what plans do you have for today?...I'm going out with my sister...Oh ok, I'm sure she would be okay with you and I going out instead. I can speak to her...I don't think so..." Margaret came back fully dressed and asked her brother on purpose if he was tagging along and Pearl just cut him off before he could speak

"Yeah Margaret, about that, Kirk and I would be going out instead, I'm sure you don't have an issue with that...errr yeah, why not_have fun...thank you future sis-in-law" She smiled but not from her heart and she looked at Kirk who was eyeing her to do something but she mouthed a 'sorry' and left.

Rose got some snacks and games ready in case Margaret wanted to play then went in to get something more appropriate to wear while Jane did same. They finished in time and Margaret was already there, they ushered her in and begun chatting away

"Margaret, I thought you were coming with your brother...I thought so too but we had an uninvited guest...the way you put it tells me you weren't really happy with whoever visited...you can say that, he said her name is Sis.Pearl or so, can you believe she just barged in on us apparently to invite Kirk out because it's a holiday, when he told her he had plans with me, she just ignored that fact and said she's sure I'm okay letting her go with him instead...breath Margaret, breath...the most annoying aspect is that she called me her sis-in-law, can you imagine, I'm never going to approve of her, never...is that why you're so worked up?...yes" Jane was laughing so hard and Rose couldn't also stop herself "sorry Margaret but your brother should have made his stance clear...he deserves it for not wanting to come with me here in the first place, saying he has a work assignment...don't be like that, Pearl is actually very nice to Kirk so I'm sure he'll be fine...nice to him? it means she's not nice to others...I didn't say that but she's not really a big fun of mine...well she has no chance with him anyways, you should have seen the way my brother looked at me when I was leaving, as if he was going to be put in the lion's den..." they all laughed. They played games, watched movies and continued to chat until they realised it was really late. Margaret decided to call her brother to pick her up and he agreed.

"So is he coming?...yeah he's coming, why do you look so excited?...me? oh no I'm just glad he can come for you because it's not really safe taking a cab here...mmmm are you sure?...please don't be like Jane...hey you girls, I'm right here and Margaret you're right. She's extra happy anytime your brother is around...comments reserved". Kirk came few minutes later "Hello ladies...hello Bro. Kirk, we missed you today" says Jane, speaking on behalf of all, "I missed all of you too, something came up that's why I couldn't make it...it's fine, so how was your date with Pearl?...Maggie, you told them?...sorry, they asked why you weren't here"

"Don't mind Jane, I hope you had a good day Kirk?... it was okay, yours? I bet you had so much fun...oh yes we did" Rose had to come in, to stop them from further torturing Kirk. "Okay we have to go, see you later...okay, get home safely...thank you"

"Maggie you just had to tell them Pearl was around huh...I said I was sorry besides I wasn't happy that you couldn't say no to her... I did, she was just persuasive, anyway, I went out with her today so that she can leave me alone...you think so? you just gave her the greenlight...I'll just tell her the truth next time, I didn't want her to feel bad, she came all the way to our place to ask me out... hmm, you're really a gentleman but she's using your nature to her advantage...you don't even know her...true, but the impression she left wasn't really something to write home about"
