Heaven on Earth

Part 16

Rose got ready to meet Kirk at 2:00pm, she didn't know where they were going but she wore her favourite multicolored flare dress with black flats and took a black purse. It was almost time and Kirk texted her that he was on his way to her place. On her way out, Erasmus saw her and she told him she was going out.

"You look amazing...thank you...where to?...I'm going out for awhile...oh ok, mind if I join you?...I don't mind, just that I don't know where we're going yet...when you say "we", who else are you referring to?...Kirk, he's coming for me...oh_ I see, have fun then...okay, thank you" just then they heard the sound of the car horn and she took her leave.

Kirk got down from the car and opened the door quickly for Rose to get in.

"So where are we going?... you'll see in some few hours time...hours? Are we going out of town?...yes we are, don't worry, you're safe...for some reason I'm not worried...that's good. You look great by the way...thank you... you're welcome. So how's Erasmus?...he's good...okay...I don't really know anything about you, you're always the one asking questions... what would you like to know?...do you live alone?...no, I live with my sister... really, I've never seen her before, I mean in church...yeah she went to visit my parents but she'll be back soon... that's nice, I'm sure she's as caring and loving as you are...even more, you'll get along well with her but she can be a handful sometimes...hahaha, I think I can deal with that. I've always wanted to have a brother or sister...you now have many brothers and sisters in church...I guess so, I assume you're just 2 children...correct...oh ok, nice. Can you please tell me where we're going at least?...you'll find out soon...please please please" she had this poker face, he just had to give in
"Okay okay fine, we're going to an orphanage...an orphanage?...yeah...what are we going to do there?...I can only tell you where we're going for now, so just be patient okay😊?...huh okay...good". They drove in silence for the rest of the journey till they got to the foundling home; where
children who had been abandoned or exposed, and left for the public to find and save were sheltered.

Rose knew from what Kirk had told her that it was a place for homeless children but she wasn't expecting what she saw, they were quite a lot and looked well taken care of

"So here we are, what do you think of this place?...it's more beautiful than most orphanages...well yeah, that's because some thoughtful people took it upon themselves to renovate and refurbish the building...oh I see, they really did a great job... come on, let's go inside". They went in and were greeted by cheerful children running all around the building, since it was their free period.

"Kirky_ my boy, wow it's good to see you...Aunty Grace, it's good to see you too, I've really missed you... I've missed you too, you look more handsome each passing day, how are you?...I'm great by God's grace and you?...I'm doing well too and who's this beautiful lady with you?...oh Rose, come please. She's a friend of mine from church and we work at the same firm too...okay, nice to meet you my dear" the elderly woman  looked very happy to see Kirk
"Nice to meet you too Ma'am...oh call me Aunty Grace and you're always welcome here...yes please, thank you Ma_ I mean Aunty Grace...good, you learn fast, Kirk I like her already"

"I knew you would...I came to show her the woman who brought colour to my life...awww my son, we give God all the praise" Rose didn't really understand their communication but she just stood there smiling and hoping that Kirk would explain himself.

"Aunty Grace, I would like to show her around, we'll see you on our way out...okay dear, no problem" he took Rose to the classrooms, the dorms, canteen etc. and finally took her to the garden where the children were playing, they sat on a bench to observe the surroundings.

"I know you have a lot of questions on your mind so ask away...yes I do, you mentioned that Aunty Grace brought colour to your life and you seem to know her from way back, do you care to explain how you two got acquainted?...Rose, the thing is I was once here before I moved to live with my parents...how do you mean?...I was adopted by my current parents...what🙄, it never crossed my mind that you were adopted, I mean you don't look it...is there a way those who were adopted look?...no, you know what I mean...well yeah, apparently my parents abandoned me when I was barely 2 years... oh God, I'm so sorry to hear that...it's fine, we still don't know who they were or if they're still alive but I have a better life now and honestly I wouldn't want to know those who brought me into this world because my foster parents are more of my own parents and Aunty Grace had a major role to play. She knew my mum, I mean my new mum and talked her into adopting me since I was getting older and no one had come for me but before then she took care of me like her own son that's why I always come here whenever I can to pay her a visit...wow, that's a lot to take in, God bless Aunty Grace and your parents...Amen. Now my life is way better than before because I know who I am in Christ. Rose I brought you here, not for you to feel pity for me but for you to know that no matter where you were before coming into Christ, it doesn't make a difference, once you discover who you are, you'll be unstoppable. Nothing and no one can anymore determine the circumstances of your life because God has also given you that free will...hmmm okay...yes and the bible says, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away behold all things have become new. Whatever you've been through and who ever you were before coming into Christ no longer exists. Behold means "see", so see that everything is new and you don't see with your physical eyes but with the eyes of your spirit because man is a spirit... thank you so much Kirk for bringing me here and making me see from a whole new perspective...you're welcome"

Kirk could see that Rose was deep in thought "Hey, are you okay?...uh yes, I have something to tell you..."

Has Rose finally summed up courage to tell Kirk what happened to her?
