Pearl went to see Bro.William and told him whatever she said to Kirk, diluting it the more. He then called Kirk on phone and told him

"Are you kidding me? I can't believe she's getting you involved in this. Rose is not guilty of whatever she's trying to spread...Bro.Kirk, you need to act fast before this gets to the entire church and even Pastor...yes I will, did she tell you who gave her the information?...she mentioned one guy came to church yesterday looking for Pastor Dan but he wasn't around so spoke to her instead and he said he works in the same company as you and Rose...Oh God, and she chose to believe a stranger she just met instead of her sister in Christ...you know she's always liked you and she sees this as an opportunity for her to take Rose out of the picture...that's ridiculous, she's pushing me farther away from her, now I can only relate to her as another member of the fellowship and not a friend...I understand, take it easy man...I'll talk to you later, thanks for calling... you're welcome"

Midweek Service
Rose decided to go to church after work in order to avoid traffic when coming from home, she would meet Jane there and they would just go home together like they normally do on Wednesdays. When she got to church she noticed groups of people had met and were discussing something, immediately they saw her, they all turned to look at her. Jane rushed to her and pulled her towards the washroom area

"Jane what is going on that you had to pull me all the way here?...didn't you see everyone staring at you?...yes I did but what's the reason?...Rose there are rumours going around that you've been sleeping with guys in church and now your current bait is Bro.Kirk...what!!!...calm down Rose...who's spreading those rumours?...I'm yet to find out but let's finish service then we know the way forward...Is Kirk in?...I haven't set eyes on him yet, he will probably be late because of work, try to focus on the word for today instead of what is going on...I will try...good, let's go in, I saved a seat in front...okay, thank you"

Throughout the service, Rose was there but she was absentminded, all she thought about was who could think of tarnishing her image like that. The service came to an end and she was going out with Jane when Kirk approached her

"Hey, how are you two?...hello Bro. Kirk, we're good and you?...I'm doing well...we thank God, I'll leave you to talk, Rose I'm waiting outside" Rose just nodded

"Have you heard the rumours about us?...that's what I came to speak to you about, let's go to the children's church...okay" they went there and fortunately, no one was in that hall, they could talk without people pointing accusing fingers at them.

"You look sad...Kirk, what is happening? When I deal with one challenge, another one comes looming in...hey, look at me_ Rose, see it as a promotion, challenges are like class tests or exams we need to take every now and then to move to the next level or stage in life...why did they have to involve you, whoever is doing this could have just dealt with me alone...I'm not bothered about that at all, I'm just concerned about you letting this get to you...who could have done this?...Listen to me, I'm going to tell you but don't harbour any form of hatred in your heart for them, okay?...you know who it was?...yes, she came to my house days ago and told me someone gave her the info...I don't get you, who came to your house?...Sis.Pearl and she told Bro.William about it too...how could she, she never even bothered to get to know me and now she's spreading rumours about me, besides who gave her such information?... Erasmus did, I suspected something like this would happen so I spoke to Pastor Dan about it when Bro.William called me. I told him everything, even about the rape...Oh God...see he's the only one that needs to know the entire truth, the rest can decide to believe the rumours or not, which aren't true anyway...but how do I face their stares and questions they may throw at me?...some brethren are still growing and may not treat you well as a result of this but that's why the word, which is your safe haven says you should guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Refuse to be troubled by what's happening now, like I said, it came to promote you and to put more testimonies in your mouth. This will surely pass, remember that the Lord is for you, with you and in you okay?...yes please, thank you so much and I'm sorry they had to drag you into this...it's okay, I'm here for you and not all of us are against you. You have Pastor Dan, all the fellowship members, Jane and my talkative sister of course, we're all on your side...hahaha...that's it, I want to see that smile everyday, don't be sad anymore okay...okay, thank you...let's meet the others outside, I'll drop you and Jane off, it's quite late"

They met the rest of the fellowship members outside the auditorium and they parted ways after they all encouraged Rose that they're on her side. Kirk, Margaret, Jane and Rose all drove in Kirk's car as he headed towards Rose's apartment. When they got there, the gate was left ajar, Kirk entered first and saw that the door to the main house was also left opened and the lock was destroyed, he beckoned the ladies to come in and what they saw shocked them...
