Heaven on Earth

Part 4

Rose's father was an international businessman who dealt with the import and export of goods while her mother died shortly after giving birth to her. Her dad's business was a very lucrative one. Rose couldn't complain because she had everything she wanted at her disposal. Life was going on smoothly until her dad met an old colleague and decided to help him because he was unemployed.

Her father's friend stole all his money from the sales they made from his goods and run out of the country. Rose's father went bankrupt, anything he tried after that wouldn't work out. He decided to go into drugs and at the first attempt, he was caught and after trial in court was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour. While serving his sentence, he became very ill and couldn't survive it. Rose was shattered, she didn't think she would ever live without her father, she had not learnt to be independent.

Her father's relatives took from her the house they lived in and all her father's existing assets. Rose didn't know where to go or who to turn to, she slept in a container on the streets for 2 nights and the third day was when she wanted to end her life because she figured she didn't have anything that was worth living for.

"That was what happened to me and my name is Rose... your story is a sad one, I'm sorry about your father's death. Don't worry, you now have me and I will not leave you...thank you so much and thanks for letting me stay here. I've been wanting to ask...ask away... do you have a girlfriend?... yeah, but you don't have to worry about her, she will understand once I explain everything...what if she is not pleased with having me around and moreover we are the only ones living here...this is my house and I decide who lives here okay. I will talk to her about you"

At 6:30am the following day, when Erasmus went to work, his girlfriend Clara came looking for him. Immediately she set eyes on Rose, she frowned "Hello, please how may I help you?" Rose was being courteous

"Where is my boyfriend and by the way, who are you... I am Rose, I just moved in here with him, nice to meet you..." Rose stretched out her hands for a handshake but she didn't even budge
"Without my consent? how could he, I'm waiting inside for him" she pushed Rose from the doorway and entered the room.

Rose went to her room and stayed there until Erasmus came back.

"Who is that girl inside there... she's a relative... you never told me about any relative coming to live with you... I was about to tell you after work, I didn't know you would be coming over while I was away... I want her out of here... I know you're angry right now but please try to understand, she has no where to go"

Rose heard all that ensued between Erasmus and his girlfriend, she started packing her clothes without the slightest idea of where she was going to lay her head. Erasmus was still trying to make Clara agree to Rose staying there with him, they were in a heated argument

"It's either she leaves or I leave and you'll never set eyes on me again... she's not going anywhere...are you choosing her over me, after all we have been through together... you leave me with no other choice" Clara took her handbag and left in anger.

Erasmus knocked on Rose's door, she hesitated before opening it. When he entered she had packed her clothes...
