The Ball of Balls

Chapter 3

Miles left Taytay behind and was happy that he didn't suddenly appear to walk next to him, because he was sure he wouldn't endure that for very long.

''Psst...'' Miles heard from behind some bushes. ''Do you come here often?'' It was a little smurf. Miles thought it was a little weird, but still answered: ''Uhm, no. I am just on a morning walk.''

Miles tried to ignore the smurf and continued counting his steps to the south. While he counted, he heard footsteps, but saw nobody every time he turned around.

''Nine hundred ninety eight, nine hundred ninety nine, one thousand!'' After a thousand steps Miles stood before a signpost. It led the way in four directions: to the Krenn Castle, Smurf Town, Suspicious Swamp and crossed out Rachel's cabin. Miles heard giggling from the bushes.

''Is it funny?'' Miles asked the unknown voices sarcastically. The smurf from earlier appeared from the bushes and said: ''Hi, my name is Yannick! I brought a friend! Come here, Amy!''

A shy little girl with pink braids came out of the bushes. She smiled at Miles and said: ''We're playing tag, do you want to join?''

''No,'' Miles responded harshly. ''I am busy.''

''That's a shame...'' Amy said sadly. But suddenly, her somber lips turned into an evil smile. ''Because now I have to eat you.''

Amy's face slowly turned green and out of her gums grew extra long fangs.

''Holy flip!'' Miles shouted, while Amy's legs grew together into a long tail. Amy's head slowly turned into that of a snake. She shredded her human skin and underneath, there was a rough snake skin. A long tongue came out of what had been Amy's mouth. She hissed aggressively at Miles, what startled him and made him fall on the ground.

Amy's head came closer and Miles closed his eyes out of fear. He heard a loud hiss, but when he opened his eyes, Amy's head was gone.

''Follow me!'' a blonde girl said, as she defended Miles with a sword against the big green snake. She reached a hand to Miles and helped him get up. Miles didn't even hesitate one second and ran after the girl.

Yannick shook the snake that lay unconscious in the grass. He jumped on her head and screamed: ''They are escaping! They are escaping!''

Meanwhile, Miles was already far away from the smurf and the snake. He stopped running to ask the girl who she was.

The girl put her sword back in it's sheath and said: ''Hi, I'm Rey.''

''Greetings, Rey. I am Miles... uhm... what the fuck just happened?''

''Uhm, it looked like you were getting attacked by a big snake,'' Rey answered dryly.

''No, you mean that,'' Miles responded sarcastically in turn.

They heard another hiss echoing through the trees. Rey looked around and said: ''I think that she is conscious again. Come with me to my cabin, we are safe there.''

Rey started running again and Miles followed her. While they were running, they hadn't looked at the ground, because suddenly Rey fell in a hole.

''Fuck, my ankle,'' Rey cursed at the bottom of the hole.

''I will help jou-'' Miles also fell in the hole on top of Rey.

While Rey was hurt, Taytay appeared on top of Miles and they formed a beautiful pile in the hole.

''Hello,'' Taytay said, ''Miles, you should have gone directly to the ball!''

''Richard, YOU COW, STOP WITH THAT STUPID BALL OF BALLS!'' screamed Miles and his scream echoed through the Forest of Trees.

''Sssst! They can hear us!'' Rey hissed at Miles, before she calmly said to Taytay: ''Hey Taytay, how are you? On a mission to get someone to the Ball of Balls again?''

''Yes,'' Taytay said dryly.

''Ha! Do you remember when Dean wanted me to go to that ball and I threw your candle in the river? You still appeared, but you didn't succeed in getting me to that ball... Good times.''

Taytay looked at Rey with a tired face and said: ''I am almost done with my training as a fairy. Dean still hasn't given me my certificate.

''Well, if you treat all your clients like him, you will never get it. I mean, look at him.''

Miles took off his cap and ran a hand through his hair. ''Thanks mate.''

''Let's go please. I have a cramp in my leg,'' Taytay said while stretching his legs, placing his foot in Miles's face.

''Richard, just make a ladder so that we can climb out of here!'' Miles said irritably.

''Richard, you came here voluntarily, stop whining,'' Rey said and she hit him. Taytay conjured up a ladder and Rey and Miles climbed out of the hole.

''Oh, he brought some friends! This will be a delicious meal, Amy!'' Yannick said happily on top of Amy's head next to the hole. Rey pulled her sword full confidence out of its sheath and stared right in the eyes of Amy the snake.
