The Ball of Balls

Chapter 9

Dean stood outside next to a lake in front of a girl with long blonde hair. She wore an orange ball gown. He was busy creating the perfect dress for the girl to go to the Ball of Balls. The girl looked disapprovingly at the dress and shook her head. Dean waived his wand and asked: ''What do you think about this color?''

''YELLOW?!'' the girl responded angrily. ''ARE YOU SERIOUS?'' She tore herself out of the yellow ball gown.

''Charlotte, please, I don't have to see you naked,'' Dean said dryly. ''We're in public.''

There Charlotte stood, in her purple glitter lingerie from the Hunkemöller. Suddenly Taytay appeared next to her. He was shocked. Dean laughed.

''Taytay, have you never seen a naked woman?'' Dean asked. ''I thought you had internet on your phone?'' This made Charlotte laugh too. Taytay rolled his eyes.

''What happened to your finger?'' Dean asked. Taytay looked at his index finger, that was wrapped in bandages.

''Nothing special,'' Taytay said dryly.

''Good story, nice and short. Why are you here? And where is Miles?''

Taytay went silent. While looking ashamed at the ground he said: ''The tracker is removed. I can't follow Miles anymore and I kinda lost him.''

''WHAT?!'' Dean shouted. ''He has to go to the Ball of Balls! If he doesn't find his true love before twelve o'clock you can forget becoming a real fairy!''

''It is not even afternoon yet, I must be able to make it,'' Taytay said.

''Is he talking to himself?'' Charlotte asked Dean, while looking at the floating pile of misfortune in front of her. ''Do you maybe want to dance with me? I have to practice before I'm going to dance with prince Robert,'' Charlotte said, still half-naked.

''Oh... uhm...'' Taytay said, while getting red. ''I have never touched a girl, let alone danced with one.'' He tried his best to not look at her breasts.

Dean conjured up a more beautiful red dress for Charlotte, so that he and Taytay felt less uncomfortable. Charlotte reached her hand to Taytay and he took it carefully. Dean conjured up a violin and started to play music. Taytay bumbled, stumbled and stood on Charlotte's toes multiple times before she wanted to stop. Charlotte tripped over Taytay's feet and the ballroom disappeared.

''Jezus, you are a nerd,'' Charlotte said.

''Okay, done dancing? Go on! To the Ball of Balls!'' Dean said, while helping Charlotte get up.

''And you, Taytay, hurry up. I don't want to see you again before you have brought Miles to the Ball of Balls.''

''But I can't teleport to him. I don't know where he is!'' Taytay said hopelessly.

''I don't give a shit. Go away!''

Taytay disappeared. Charlotte looked at Dean and said: ''I have stalker powers. I would have been able to find Miles for him.''

''You have great timing.''
