It was a new day, no one was talking to Damon except me of course. Everyone was avoiding the subject of what he did to Jeremy, but everyone was keeping themselves occupied with the Mystic Falls Carnival. Lena, BonBon, and I were roped into setting the whole thing up since Care was out of commission. We wondered how she did all these things because it was so hard. Lena convinced Jeremy and Stef to help out too and it was funny to see Lena being so bossy with the boys. The week flew by quickly until it was finally time for the Carnival. I wasn't gonna go, I wanted to visit Caroline instead, but when I called she said she wanted to be alone so I decided to stay home instead.
I was sitting on the sofa in the foyer reading a book when Damon came in, "What are you doing here?" I smirked, "What do you mean? I live here..." I saw him roll his eyes at me, "You know what I meant. Why aren't you at the Carnival?" I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know. You know me, I don't really like crowded places. I'd rather be home, doing this," as I gestured to the book in my hand. Damon walked up to me and snatched the book from my hands so I just looked at him annoyed, "Come on, get ready. I want to go to the Carnival with you." I looked up at him from my position on the couch, "Why? You don't even like those stuff." He shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe, but I want to go with you which means you're going even if it means dragging your ass then I will." I laughed and got up, "Fine, fine. Let me just go get changed."

When we go there the Carnival was in full swing and I was kinda glad Damon forced me to come. Everyone looked like they were enjoying everything so I couldn't help but mirror the emotions. I walked around some more and spotted Matty standing against the wall with a thoughtful look on his face, "Hey Matty, you okay?" He looked up at me, "Hey V, yeah, it's just...it's Caroline." I furrowed my brow with a sense of panic, "What is it? Is she okay?" He nodded his head quickly, "Yeah, Yeah she's fine it's just, she's here, she said she's good a new," I was confused and he continued, "It's just that she seemed, different." I crossed my arms, "Different how?" He shook his head, "She's been freaking out all day. Fine one minute and then crazy the next. I'm used to all the insecurities, but this just seemed different, more so than usual." I furrowed my brow in thought and nodded my head. After reassuring him everything would be fine we went our separate ways and I walked around just thinking about what could be wrong with Care.
I ended up in the parking lot when I turned a corner and I saw Damon hugging Caroline but was about to stab her in the back with a wooden stake, "Damon, no!" Luckily Stefan got there and was able to throw the stake and Damon away from Caroline. I noticed the bloodstains on Care's face, the man lying motionless on the car beside her, and I understood what happened. Care was panicking and said that Elena had killed her but Lena explained that it was Katherine. I walked closer, "What the hell is going on here?" Caroline looked at me and sped to me and wrapped herself around me, "Why is this happening to me, why did she look like Elena?" I caressed her head, "Sh, sh. It's okay Care. I'll explain everything to you, for now, go inside with Stef and Lena. I'll talk to Damon." She untangled herself from me and Stef and Lena stood on either side of her, holding her hands while Damon continued to talk, "She will die. It's only a matter of time." I looked over my shoulder to glare at Damon while Stefan answered, "Yeah, maybe so, but it's not gonna be tonight." Damon raised a brow, "Oh, yeah it is." I knew what he was gonna do before he did it, Damon grabbed the stake on the floor and sped over to stake Caroline but I spun around and stood in front of her forcing Damon to stop with the stake raised, almost piercing my chest and I looked into his eyes, "She'd my best friend, Damon." He kept looking at me until finally lowering the stake, "Whatever happens. It's on you." I rolled my eyes at him, "I have faith in her Damon. She'll be the better one out of all of us. Do you understand? You. Will. Leave. Her. Alone. Do you understand? " He looked at me and finally nodded so I went with Caroline and Stefan inside as they walked into the bathroom and I stood watch. After they came back out when she saw me she started to cry again and I hugged her, but she got scared, "No, I could hurt you!" She backed away but I grabbed her hands and pulled her to me and I grabbed her face, "Caroline Forbes, I have never, nor will I ever, be afraid of you. You will not hurt me, I know it. I believe in you and we're gonna do everything we can to help you. Do you hear me?" She nodded her head again and we dropped her off at home. That night she called me to say Matty snuck into her room and told her he was in love with her and I was so happy for her. She said she was able to control the veins under her eyes when they hugged and I couldn't be prouder. I knew that Care would be the best of us, I just knew it.
