Chapter 47

Nova's POV

When I sat up I was sore for some reason so sitting up made a groan fall from my lips until I felt a hand on mine. I looked and realized it was My Heart with a look of concern. I smiled and kissed her forehead, "It's alright My Heart. I'm okay. What did I miss? Where is everyone?" Hope explained that Mar had kept her safe like I asked after I fainted. He was able to speed me and Hope away from the compound where Nikky came and got us. After that Hope was given a message that the Ancestors wanted to speak to Hail and Nikky so they went to St. Anne's church and that's where they are currently. Knowing this I gasped since Vina planned to kill Nikky. I got up quickly to go there when I felt the same pain in my head. So, I fell to my knees in agony as tears streamed down my face only they weren't tears, it was blood. Hope quickly ran to my side, "Moo! It's happening again! What's wrong?!" She slid in front of me and grabbed my cheeks with her small hands and cried. I smiled gently and caressed her cheek, "I'm okay, baby. I promise. But right now, we need to go save your dad. He's in danger and only we can help him." With a trembling lip, she gave a firm nod and stood while taking her bracelet that suppresses her magic off. Still, on my knees, I endured the pain while grabbing Hope's hand and teleported us inside St. Anne's church and saw Vina in a salt barrier with an unconscious Nikky. 

Mar was on his knees groaning in pain while Vina extracted his venom, no doubt using it as a means to kill Nikky. Hail and Lijah stood watching, unable to enter the barrier that surrounded them. Before I could say anything Hope stood next to me while grabbing my hand and spoke, "No! You promised to help, and you're not helping. You're hurting us and I won't let you." I looked to Hope and turned to Vina apologetically and felt Hope use her magic to create a wind that broke the salt barrier making Vina vanish and Nikky wake up instantly. She immediately ran to Nikky who sat up and caught her in time. I stood on wobbly legs but was no longer able to endure the pain any longer so with a heavy breath and blood pouring from my eyes, ears, and now mouth I tried to whisper Lijah's name while grabbing ahold of the church pew but my hand slipped and I watched the ground grow closer but a pair of strong hands caught me. I was lifted and realized it was Lijah who had a panicked look on his face but I just smiled and reassured him I was fine and just needed some rest. Just to be safe he gave me some blood and I was good to go when he informed me of who was waiting for me at the compound! It was Lark! Turns out they asked him to look into the Lockwood estate since Tyler was killed by Day when he was out of control. Lark was able to find one of the Hollow's bones and a ledger of everyone who was ever in charge of the bones. Fee, who's now possessed by the Hollow, found him and was able to get all the bones except for the jaw bone that we had protected at the compound. I was surprised at everything that I missed but regardless I was excited to see him since I hadn't been back to Mystic Falls in a while.  

As soon as we arrived at the compound I ran in and spotted him and when he noticed me too he already had his arms wide open. With a smile ear to ear, I ran and jumped into his arms and laughed as he spun me around, "I've missed you, Lark! How is my best friend? My Sunshine? My babies???!!!" He laughed as I asked my questions one after the other, "Slow down, Bumblebee. They're fine. They miss you. The girls have been asking where you are but I told them you're taking a little sabbatical."  I smiled and buried my face into his chest taking in his scent and pulled back slightly, "I miss them too. As you can see things have gotten rather hectic over here so once everything's back to normal then I promise I'll be back." I watched him nod so we pulled apart and watched Hope approach the table that had the Hollow's jaw bone, "My dad said you study this stuff." Lark smiled and slightly nodded, "Yeah, that's right. There are a lot of amazing things in the world you can study. And some of them are even things that don't want to hurt you. And what do you have there?" Hope gestured to each totem while placing them on the table surrounding the bone, "These are for serenity. And this one is for stillness. They'll keep the flowers in bloom." Lark looked impressed, so I felt a surge of pride in my chest for My Heart, "Now, did you teach yourself all that?" My Heart walked to me while she answered, "Well, I did read about it in one of my Aunt Freya's books," she wrapped her arms around me as I did the same, "But Moo is helping me learn and teaches me how to figure some of this stuff on my own." I smiled and kissed her head, "Hm..." Lark looked at me with a smile which I reciprocated and looked back down to Hope, "Well...that is all very impressive."
