~Third Person POV~

Day 12:

The Tampa captain seemed to cool down more and more each day. But each day seemed busier and longer than the last. There hadn't really been any downtime.

"God is this why you guys are so fast?" Grace huffed as she laid in the goalbox. "You get used to it" Kira laughed.

"Hey Y/n, can I ask you a question?" "Yeah sure" "Why are Himari and Grace doing sled drags if they're goalies?"

"Himari didn't use to, but we occasionally practice other positions and she found she wasn't as fast as the rest of us. Which makes some sense since she's usually in the goalbox. So she started to do them with us, just in case we were ever down a player or had to switch positions for some reason"

"That's actually- pretty smart," Sophie said as she scratched her head. "Isn't that what you did in the game against Aoba Johsai?" Bella asked.

"Yep. When Mariko got her concussion we sacrificed our wingback position so Kagami could play defensive midfielder while I played winger," "How long did it take you guys to perfect that?"

"I wouldn't say it's perfected but it's a skill that we have if we need it." Y/n looked at Kagami. "I think it took us about 3 weeks to get through all positions at least 5 or 6 times."

Y/n's phone started ringing on the bench, interrupting their conversation. "Sorry I forgot to turn it off" "Y/n is that-"

"HEY TAKEDA, CAN YOU SILENCE MY PHONE PLEASE?" He nodded and Y/n looked back at Himari, who was shaking her head.

"What?" "You can't keep ignoring him Y/n" "I'm not ignoring him. I text him when I can but we're in different time zones" Himari scoffed.

"Oh really? Wanna tell me how many times you've spoken to Nishinoya?" The goalie looked away. "Exactly."

Y/n wanted the conversation over with. It was a touchy subject for her right now seeing as she missed Daichi a lot.

"I still think you could've answered" Himari whispered. "We're practicing Yua. We're here for a reason"

Y/n walked back out to the field leaving both teams behind as she went to practice taking shots on the goal.

"What was that about?" Elena asked. "Her boyfriend. They've never been away from each other this long and I think it's starting to get to her" Kagami replied as she watched her friend and captain overwork herself.

Sophie got up without saying a word and walked over to where Y/n was. "Need a goalie?" "That'd be great" Y/n stopped messing with her bracelet and continued to practice.

"Did she just call you Yua?" "We're here for 18 more days. Can she survive that?" Nori sighed, "You all make it sound like it's life and death. Sure she misses him but it's not gonna kill her"

At the exact time Nori said that, the ball hit the metal frame on the goal post and flew back, hitting Y/n square in the face.

All the girls dropped what they were doing and rushed over while Sophie was already at her side. "Y/n!" "Are you okay?" "Does it hurt anywhere?" "Y/n?" "Captain?"

Y/n didn't move. She laid on the grass completely motionless as her head spun. "WE KILLED HER!"

After snapping out of her trance, the girl's eyes filled with tears as she got up from the ground. She stared at her bracelet as she walked away.

"Y/n?" Takeda asked as she looked through her bag. "I'm fine" She grabbed her phone and started to unlock it as she went to the locker room.

"You've reached Sawamura Daichi. Leave a message." Y/n sighed as she held her tears back. "Hey Daichi" Her voice already started to crack.

"I'm sorry we haven't really gotten to talk. It's been non-stop here. I uh- I miss you. A lot. And I could really use you right about now. Anyways, uh, I have to get back. I hope you're doing well a-and the rest of the team too. Bye baby"

She sighed as she turned off her phone.

It was around 12 PM in Tampa which means it was about 2 AM in Japan. This means Daichi will either see the message when he wakes up around 7 AM his time, being 9 PM Y/n's time or 3 PM his time, when he gets out of school, making it 5 AM Y/n's time.

Daichi had a super busy day and only saw Y/n's message before practice. As he listened he got a little concerned.

She wasn't really the type for normal pet names like 'babe' or 'baby' which is why his nickname is 'Cap' and she used his name, which she never really does unless it's something serious.

He called her back almost immediately after her voicemail ended.

Y/n had just gotten back into bed after going to the bathroom when her phone started ringing. When she flipped it over and saw it was her boyfriend she answered instantly while trying to get out of bed and put shoes on at the same time.

Unfortunately, you can only do so many tasks at once so she ended up tripping and falling as she put her shoes on. "God-Ugh!"

When she got out into the hallway she put the phone up to her ear.

"Hi baby"

"How early is it there?"

"Ehhhh not that early"

"Y/n"

"5"

"WHY DID YOU ANSWER AT 5 IN THE MORNING?!"

"Because I wanted to hear your voice..."

He laughed a little which made Y/n laugh.

"Seriously. I miss you" Her voice had dropped and had obvious hints of sadness.

"I know baby. I miss you too."

Y/n couldn't hold it back anymore and she started to cry softly in the hallway.

"Hey, hey no it's okay" Daichi tried his best to comfort her but he could only do so much from 7,000+ miles away.

"It's been so hard. I try to stay up and wait for your call but I'm so exhausted from training when we get back. I just-" She began to breakdown.

"I just want a hug"

Daichi bit his lip as he listened to her cry.

"When you get back we can stay in bed for an entire day and I'll just hold you"

"please..."

"I promise baby"

Daichi watched as Coach Ukai motioned towards the court and he sighed.

"I have to go practice-"

"It's okay. I'll be fine, you go practice."

"Okay, bye beautiful"

"Bye Cap"

When he hung up, Y/n held her phone close to her chest as she walked back into her room. Himari had woken up when the girl stepped out so she was waiting up for her friend to come back inside.

Y/n crawled into the other bed and laid down. She rested her head on Himari's thigh and the goalie played with her captain's hair.

"I miss him" "I know. I miss Yū too"
