A/N: hopefully you understand the whole italics thing now
I wake up at 6:00 and get ready for school. I wake up with a warm fuzzy feeling, like today is going to be a good day. I shower as usual, get dressed, and brush my hair. My phone starts ringing. I look at my phone and see that it's my Mom. Don't lie to yourself Emma...you know you miss your parents. "Hey Mom!" I say as I answer my phone. "Emma we decided to come home early. We miss you too much." my Mom chirps over the phone. "Really? That's cool." I respond. "Yep. We should be home a little after you get home from school." I hear my Dad say in the background. "Well, I have to finish getting ready for school. Love you guys." I say to my parents. "We love you too." They say as they hang up.
I love my parents. They're the best. A dark thought creeps in my mind. But would they still love me if they knew I was gay? I got a sudden rush of courage. When they get back I'm going to come out to them. I want to share this piece of my life with them. On my way to school, I stop at Starbucks. Memories of when Alyssa and I met up at Starbucks surface. What was that drink she got? Just guess and hopefully she'll like it. I pull up to the drive-thru and order a vanilla chai tea for me and a caramel macchiato for Alyssa.
I walk into school and pull out my phone to text Alyssa to ask where she is. Before I could type, I see her waiting at my locker. She actually remembered my locker number? Of course she did her locker is near yours. She's being friendly. I see her look up from her phone and...is she blushing right now? I walk up to her and hand her the caramel macchiato I got her. "I went to Starbucks this morning and I was thinking of you, so I got you this. Hopefully it's the right drink I'm sorry if it isn't." I say nervously. Alyssa looks at me and smiles.
"Wow, you actually paid attention to what I ordered?" Alyssa asks. "Well, how could I not pay attention? The barista called you Allistar." I laugh. Alyssa looks at me and just stares. Those eyes. That's what pulled me in to begin with. Those beautiful brown eyes against her beautiful light brown skin. Her personality just enhances everything. It makes her 10x more beautiful. "I know sports aren't your thing, but you should come to the football game on Friday. You shared your guitar playing with me, so I thought I could share my cheerleading with you. Sure I don't enjoy it, but I'm actually good at it." Alyssa says nervously.
"I'll go. But only if we can do something actually enjoyable afterwards." I chuckle.
"Do you like smoothies?" Alyssa asks.
"What kind of question is that? Yes I like smoothies." I laugh. "I can drive us after the game if that's alright." I say quickly.
"That's great. I have to stay at school until after the game, so I'll just ask my Mom to drive me to school on Friday." Alyssa responds
Did I just agree to a smoothie date? OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Wait. I'll just think of it as a date in my mind.
The bell rings and Alyssa and I part ways. "Thanks for the coffee!" She yells as she turns the corner. 5th period rolls around and I go to my locker to switch out books and there Alyssa is. She kept her promise. She said she would walk with me whenever we were going the same way. I smile as I see her. She smiles back at me and we start walking. Just being around her makes me feel...butterflies. Her aura just makes me want to be a better person. Like I feel like I could go build a frickin habitat for humanity or something. I have an urge to grab her hand and hold it, but then I would seem like a weirdo.
Alyssa and I part ways again and go to class. I get home from school and start doing my homework. A few minutes later, I hear the front door unlock. My parents walk in very sluggishly. They look exhausted. They seemed chipper on the phone this morning. Not the right time to come out to them Emma. "How was your trip?" I ask. "Exhausting." They say in unison. My Dad looks around the house in awe. "The house is spotless." he says. "Yep." I say smiling. "We expected it to be a mess." he says while still in awe. "Nope." I chuckle. My parents engulf me in a group hug. I love them.
I get a buzz from my phone while I'm sitting on my bed finishing homework.
Alyssa: Thank you for the coffee!
Me: you already said thank you lol
Alyssa: Well I wanted to say thank you again. Shelby and Kaylee don't even do that kind of stuff and I've known them longer.
Me: really? not even kaylee?
Alyssa: I mean we aren't really friends. We kind of just hang out because we cheer together. They're nice though
