~timeskip about 2 months~

I wake up with a spring in my step. Why? BECAUSE ITS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL BEFORE WINTER BREAK!!! Anyway, I'm thinking about asking my Nana if Alyssa can come over after school. As a "friend"
of course, but only if Alyssa is down for it.

Me: good morning❤️

Alyssa: good morning em❤️

Me: do you want to come over to my house after school today?

Alyssa: yes please my mom is gone all weekend on business and im scared to die from boredom

Me: maybe i can ask my nana if you can sleepover

Alyssa: really?

Me: yeah i can ask right now she's up

I run downstairs and see my Nana sipping on her tea while looking out of the window.

"Good Morning!" I say as walk over to my Nana.

"Good Morning Emma." my Nana says with a smile.

"Can a friend sleepover this weekend?" I ask nervously.

"I don't see why not." my Nana says.

"Thank You!" I say.

I run back upstairs and text Alyssa back.

Me: operation sleepover is a go!

Alyssa: yayyy😊

Me: wait...what about your mom?

Alyssa: she left for the airport before I woke up and she won't be back until sunday night sooo you have me until at least sunday afternoon

Me: this is great!

Alyssa: ikr okay i gtg but i'll be at your house after school

Me: the address is 436 windmill avenue

Oh. My.Gosh. I'm about to have a sleepover with my GIRLFRIEND. This is...scary. I've never had a girl in my room before. Well, I did when I was in elementary school for like play dates; but this is different. I'm going to have to tell my Nana that Alyssa is my girlfriend eventually. She's a smart woman, so she'll probably figure it out before I can tell her.

I get to school and I can barely pay attention in class. Two months with an amazing girl. 12 year old me never would have thought in a million years I would be this lucky.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts by someone behind me tapping my shoulder. I turn around and a boy hands me a piece of paper. I open it and it says "Go Away" in red pen. I turn around to him and say, "Mmm...I think I'll stay." with a big smile on my face. Not everyone is like that though. There are some people that still wave at me in the hallway and say hi...you know decent human beings.

School ends and I sprint to my truck. I race to the store to try and get things for the sleepover. I'm not gonna lie, I'm panicking just a little. Okay I'm panicking a lot, but I can't help it what if the sleepover is a bust? I run into the store and grab sugar cookie mix, frosting, sprinkles, and any other crap that is needed to decorate Christmas cookies. I also grab random junk food. I throw it all into the cart and speed walk to the self-checkout. I probably look like a maniac right now.

I get home and I burst through the front door with all of my bags from the store.

"Emma are you okay?" my Nana asks in a concerned tone.

"Mhm." I say quickly and start taking stuff out of bags.

I get a buzz from my phone.

Alyssa: i'll be there in like 15 minutes i kind of got lost

Me: okay great!

Not great.

"Alright then...I'm going upstairs to take a nap. Have fun with your friend." my Nana says as she walks upstairs.

With five minutes to spare, I've arranged two different chip bowls, a popcorn bowl, and two candy trays. I think it might be enough. Of course it's enough there's only you. Calm down. Everything will be fine.

The doorbell rings.

Panic. Now. Wait go answer the door you lunatic.

I open the door and see Alyssa standing there with a big smile on her face. "Heyyyy." she says as I welcome her in. She notices all of the snacks I arranged in the kitchen. "Oh you were prepared." Alyssa laughs.

"Do you want to make cookies and decorate them? I'm feeling festive." I say nervously.

"Yessss I love Christmas cookies!" Alyssa says excitedly. "You are so cute." I say back. Alyssa smiles at me at grabs the box of cookie mix. While I'm mixing the cookies, I accidentally get some cookie dough on Alyssa. She looks at me with a smirk. Uh oh. She grabs one of the tubes of frosting and wipes frosting on my nose. Oh it's on. "Oh, you must be Emma's friend." my Nana says as walks downstairs in the middle of our food fight. Alyssa and I freeze and turn around. "Hi I'm Alyssa Greene, pleasure to meet you." Alyssa says nervously. "I see you two are already having fun...just clean up after yourselves." my Nana says.

About the cookies....we burnt them. We completely forgot about them because we got caught up in watching YouTube videos. I order a pizza, then we take the party to my room. "Woah, your room is so nice." Alyssa says as she walks in my room.

"Thanks, it did take a while to redecorate." I chuckle.

"Emma, are you okay? When I got here you seemed off." Alyssa asks.

"I was nervous about the sleepover, but everything is good now."  I say with a smile. "Um...do you want to watch Netflix? I just started this show called On My Block."

"I love On My Block, I'll try not to spoil anything." Alyssa says excitedly. I grab my laptop and sit on my bed. Alyssa automatically nuzzles up against my chest. After about 6 episodes, Alyssa is knocked out. She looks so peaceful. I don't want to wake her up, but I kind of want to finish this season.

The Netflix sound goes off in the beginning of the episode, and Alyssa jumps awake. "Sorry, I didn't think it would wake you up." I say quietly. Alyssa situates herself to where she's looking right at me.

"What?" I ask as Alyssa stares at me.

"You're so beautiful." Alyssa says quietly. She leans in and kisses me softly.

Butterflies go off in my stomach. This was the first time we've kissed. I pull back and Alyssa looks at me with fear in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry I didn't even ask if you were ready for that and-

I cut her off with another kiss; one with more passion than the first one.

"Oh." Alyssa laughs.
