Prom was...magical. It couldn't have gone better. Now it's just gonna be me and Alyssa, the couple. Like out in the open.

Alyssa: hey babe💜

Me: heyyyy❤️

Alyssa: do you want to come over

Me: what-

Alyssa: to my house?

Me: i know what you mean but...you've never invited me over

Alyssa: well...my mom wants to meet you since you guys never really had a proper introduction plus she knows about us so it's okay

Me: idk alyssa

Alyssa: oh...okay well if you change your mind we'll be at home the address is 2097 harvest lane

I do want to go over...I'm just nervous. It's crazy how the same person who just put me through hell wants to meet me...and like talk to me like a human being and not some weird rainbow monster.

What would I even say? Has Alyssa told her anything about me? Only one way to find out.

Me: i'll come over❤️

Alyssa: im excited for her to meet you..baby please don't be too nervous you're amazing and she'll see that💜

Me: i'll be over in about an hour?

Alyssa: okii love you💜

Me: love you too❤️

What am I gonna wear?! Do I wear makeup?Do I wear my hair up or down? Alright Emma...calm down. Just be casual...don't wear so many layers you don't want to practically spray their house with queerness.

I race to my shower and wash and condition my hair. It's definitely gotten longer, so the waves sit prettier. I get out and I let my hair air dry while I pick out my outfit.

Okay maybe a basic white t-shirt and jeans? That's too basic though...but you want Mrs. Greene to actually like you. Forget it, I'm wearing a flannel over this.

I put on a white shirt with black jeans and a blue and black flannel. I'm not going to wear makeup because then it'll seem like I'm trying too hard. My hair is fully dry and I brush it out to make it floofy.

Now...what am I going to say when I get there? "Hello Mrs. Greene. I'm Emma Josephine Nolan and I've been dating your daughter for almost 2 years." Come on Emma you sound stupid. I'm sure she'll greet you first and you just have to be cordial.

I flop on my bed and start watching Netflix. I'm halfway through an episode when I realize I said I'll be at Alyssa's house in an hour.

Alyssa: emma are you still coming over

Me: yeah im sorry i got caught up in gossip girl

I grab my Air Force 1's, phone, and keys and sprint to my truck. I pull up the address on my GPS and surprisingly her house is a lot closer than I thought...it's only like 5 minutes away.

I pull into their driveway and I slowly walk up to the front door. My hand shakes as I reach for the doorbell.

Come on Em, you got this. Just press the button.

I ring the doorbell and about 5 seconds later, Mrs. Greene opens the door.

"You must be Emma." Mrs. Greene says with a small smile.

I nod my nervously because my words get stuck on the way out.

"Come in come in." Mrs. Greene says.

I step inside and I am internally blown away by how nice their house is.

Alyssa comes out of what seems to be the kitchen and stops in her tracks when she sees my face. She quickly tiptoes over to me and grabs my hand and leads me to the kitchen.

"Emma, do you want anything to drink?" Mrs. Greene asks.

"Uh, n-no ma'am." I say nervously.

"Emma, I would like to say that I'm sorry. I judged you before I even knew anything about you. So if you're comfortable, can you please tell me about yourself?" Mrs. Greene asks with a small smile.

I look at Alyssa for reassurance and she nods her head at me.

"My name is Emma...as you know. I'm a Virgo. I play guitar and I sing a little bit. My favorite food is mac and cheese...I don't know what else to say." I say nervously.

"Well it's a great start. Alyssa never told me how you guys met." Mrs. Greene says.

"Mom there's a reason I didn't tell you." Alyssa chuckles.

"It was the church picnic last year." I laugh.

"Okay I was not expecting that." Mrs. Greene chuckles. "Tell me more."

"Do you want to tell her your side of the story or do you want me to tell the story?" I laugh.

"Let me tell!." Alyssa exclaims. "Okay, so we get to the picnic and Shelby and Nick run up to me. Mom, you know who Shelby and Nick are. Anyway, Shelby drags me to the food table where Emma and Kaylee are and I introduce myself because I had never seen Emma before. Then, I ask Emma if she wants to go sit somewhere else because we couldn't really get into what everyone else was talking about. Emma starts asking me questions and vice versa then we bonded over Britney Spears' 'Toxic'. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history."

"Wait, when did you guys start dating then?" Mrs. Greene asks.

"I got this one." I say. "I hadn't told my parents I was gay and when I did they kicked me out and outed me on FaceBook. Basically, everyone at school knew...including Alyssa. When I went back to school, I was planning to tell her I liked her just so I could get it out of my system and lose feelings once she rejected me. I was convinced she was homophobic just like almost everyone else at school. I confessed and then...I was the first person Alyssa came out to. I asked her to be my girlfriend and...I think you know what her answer was."

"Emma...your parents kicked you out? I'm so sorry." Mrs. Greene asks.

"Yeah, they did. But it's okay it's their loss." I chuckle.

"Emma, I hope you can forgive me for the way I treated you." Mrs. Greene says.

"I already have." I say with a small smile.
