Despite my life being a total sh*tshow this past year, I'm actually enjoying myself. I haven't spent the summer with my Nana since I was like 8, so this is a change of scenery. School let out 2 weeks ago and my routine has pretty much been the same every day. Sleep. Eat. Play my guitar. Watch Netflix. Repeat. I'm not exactly bored, but I don't think I like living in a loop. I wish I could talk to Alyssa, but she has no reception out in the woods at camp. I don't think I can survive not talking to her for another week...I might cry.

I wake up and start to get out of bed. I suddenly stop myself. I'm not getting out of bed today and I don't have to. So, I won't. I get back into my bed and grab my laptop. My Nana  knocks on my door and I tell her to come in.

"Emma...I think you need some fresh air." my Nana says with a concerned tone.

"Huh?" I say with wide eyes.

"You've been either in your room or in the kitchen for the past two weeks...it's nice outside. Why don't you go for a walk?" my Nana says with a smile.

"But, I have all I need right here." I say with puppy dog eyes.

"Nope. That's not working. Go outside." my Nana laughs.

"Fine." I say dryly.

I roll out of bed and slowly walk over to my bathroom. I take a shower and pick out some clothes. I pick out a white shirt and some black shorts, put my hair in a high ponytail, grab my phone and headphones, and leave the house.

It is too hot out here. I'm literally gonna melt in like 5 seconds. Doesn't Nana know I'm not athletic, because walking seems like a sport right about now. Okay, maybe this wouldn't be so bad if I stopped complaining.

I put in my headphones and started blasting my music. I end up walking to the beach. I sit in the sand and watch the water. The water is at peace. The ripples look so peaceful. They're just there. It's the waters only imperfection. A beautiful imperfection honestly. I hope that one day everyone is at peace like the movement of the water. Looking at the water made me think about something. When I'm with Alyssa I can look at her and tell she's happy. But, I can also see deep down that she is riddled with fear.

I walk back to the house and go to my room. I hear my Nana knock on my door and I let her in.

"See? Getting fresh air wasn't so bad." my Nana said with a smirk.

"Nature is pretty." I say while wrapped underneath a blanket.

"I'm glad you enjoyed nature." she laughs. "I made some meatloaf if you're hungry."

"Food?" I say as I sprint to the kitchen.

It is now week 3 of summer vacation...I hate it. But, Alyssa comes back today so it's not that bad. I grab my phone and realize it's 12:00. I jump out of bed because I've basically wasted the whole day. I take a quick shower and put on a basic yellow t-shirt and jean shorts. I walk downstairs and see my Nana watching tv.

"I see someone finally decided to emerge from their slumber and she's dressed too? That's a plus." my Nana laughs.

Before I can respond to my Nana, I get a buzz on my phone.

Alyssa: heyyyyyyy💜

My heart does about 10 backflips.

Me: FINALLY ITS BEEN TOO LONG

Alyssa: awww you missed me

Me: yesss😭❤️

Alyssa: if you're not busy later we can hangout

Me: bold of you to assume that im any kind of busy😀

Alyssa: i say we get food im picking you up in 30 minutes

"Text from Alyssa huh?" my Nana says with a smirk.

"Yesss." I reply with a smile. "She and I are going to get food in about 30 minutes...if that's okay."

"Have fun." my Nana laughs.

30 minutes later, I get into Alyssa's car. Her car is really clean. I turn to Alyssa and give her a small peck on her lips. Alyssa shakes her head and taps her lips. I give her another peck.

"3 weeks and that's all I get?" Alyssa says with puppy dog eyes.

"Yup." I respond with a smile.

"Nope." Alyssa says before she presses her lips on to mine; pulling me into a passionate kiss.

"Anywayyy, I was thinking we could go to Panera. I've been wanting a sandwich since day 1 of camp." Alyssa says as she puts her car in reverse.

"I CAN GET A GRILLED CHEESE!" I say excitedly.

"You're so cute when you're excited." Alyssa says.

We get to Panera and sit down after ordering our food.

"So, how was bible camp?" I ask Alyssa.

"Biblical." Alyssa laughs. "I mean it's honestly not horrible. Except for the 7 a.m. bible study. That is way too early to have anyone try and process any kind of holy text. But, we had a lot of recreational time. I think it's funny how the counselors separate the boys and the girls so they can't do anything "unholy"."

"Ohhhh what kind of unholy things?" I smirk.

"You know what kind of things." Alyssa laughs as she throws a napkin at me.

I see Alyssa's smile fade and she looks down at the table.

"You okay?" I ask.

"I just saw a those people pointing at us and whispering...do you think they know? I mean they possibly couldn't. We're just laughing and talking like everybody else here. We aren't even holding hands right now." Alyssa says quietly in a quick breath

"They're just people Alyssa, calm down." I say.

"They know my Mom. They're in the PTA." Alyssa says quietly.

"Oh...do you want to leave?" I say quietly.

"No." Alyssa hesitates. "I'm done being scared. I've given it a lot of thought and....I'm gonna come out senior year. I don't know exactly when, but I'm making it a goal for myself."

"Seriously?" I ask

"Yeah." Alyssa says with a small smile.

"Well...I'll be there when you do. I promise." I say with a big smile.
